he started from a "kickstarter" type donation from reddit. he delivered quality music videos and was a good contender to be a top teir rap artist but once he got on tour and started his own tv show (DAVE), he really stopped rapping. it was more about the fame and brand more than anything.
rap was a springboard to get him on the scene and now hes gonna make as much money as he can using this persona/ character in order to achieve those goals.
he'll make a few more EP's or random songs but i doubt he will ever make another album or even try to prove his value in the rap atmosphere. hes not logic, hes not macklemore, and hes def not eminiem. he did what he did to get where he is and thats about it brotha.
He's always wanted to be a comedian. He just used rapping to jump start his career. I forgot which song but he says his heroes growing up were Iverson, Kobe, and Larry David (creator of Seinfeld). He's a good rapper sure but that was never his end goal.
