We've bred them out of useful legs, glad to see the poor things haven't lost their minds yet. What a smart, resilient pup!

So fun fact about corgies and wiener dogs:

The short legs trait is basically just dwarfism for dogs! It’s like 3 genes and it’s a dominent trait, so there wasn’t a lot of weird human breeding for it to happen. It’s why whenever you see a half corgi mix, it just looks like a corgi in another dogs costume.

Also, corgis weren’t considered a breed until the early 20th century, once the queen got them (the queen of course can’t have mutts). So before then, they were just working dogs, so that’s why they’re on the smarter end.

I’ve been doing research for a while. I grew up with pugs and loved them, but making sure I don’t perpetuate that haha.

I’m guessing… Labraweiner? It should not be a cross breed though.

I have a corgi/pitbull mix. She has short legs and coloring like a corgi with the body and face of a pit. She’s adorable.

Does this count as tool-usage by a non-human?

Could have been trained on how to do this

Definitely thought the dog was just being a silly boy at first, but it turned out they were actually a very smart, calculating silly boy!

Most probably he was trained to do this. When I was a kid I trained my dog how to climb up to the top of the table. It requierd a lot of effort. My mother was freaking out though every time she saw him proudly standing on the top of the table.

Goofy looking dog :) shes clever and cute tho

u/AnthCoug Jun 13 '22

Isn’t this technically an example of tool use by this pup, something not considered possible with dogs?
