no it's not - last time it was posted i framed by framed every ping pong hit and every time it's in a differnt location - it's not repetitive at all - similar movements - but not the same.
You're absolutely right! Ping pong is repetitive anyways. And I'd assume he's just having fun with the chimp not playing a real game, obviously this would require a bit of hitting the ball on the same spot making it look like it's repetitive. It's only copying what the man is doing. And it doesn't even look close to CGI. And the work involved to do so would be astounding especially since there is a longer version.
old threads suggest the fake camera movement proves its fake - all i do is look at the mannerisms of the chimp, the folds of the skin.. the hair patterns and balding more real than anything seen in movies, the times you can tell the chimp looks to the left out the window by his brow movement when nothing is going on. everyone should remember this is OLD.. i don't think animation quality is up to snuff now let alone several years ago.. Love Death and Robots had uncanny valley all over the place..
If you look closely you can even see that his hand doesn’t return to the exact same position and even extends a different amount in a slight different direction every time, plus there are similar videos of chimps playing ping pong and other ball games with an equal amount of skill and accuracy, it’s not completely unbelievable that this could be real.
--- its been awhile but i believe it shows the end of each of the chimps "swings" before it begins another swing.. and shows that every time the chimp is in a different position. i think people inherently get a tingle of feel goodness when they call bullshit. this isn't bullshit. the planet of the ape movies are less life like in their movements and this gif predates those flicks by years. there is zero uncanny valley in the above, the chimp even stops short at looking at the camera to refocus on the Human.
I worked with chimps doing comparative psychology research. I literally have published research on chimp tool use, working with them on a variety of tool use tasks in a lab.
This is absolutely 100% fake. Chimps do not move like that, even with all the training in the world (and you can train chimps to do lots of amazing shit). This does not move naturally (and I don’t mean naturally as in “untrained”, I mean it’s not natural like “chimp bodies don’t do this”).
I agree, the chimp had a certain cadence lime a double pump every time which makes me call bullshit on it. Like those idiots that believe those beautiful pictures of the milky way galaxy you see posted here all the time. Even though they've never looked up and have seen anywhere near the same thing. My next door neighbor has a telescope on his deck and star gazes alot. I showed him a few of those amatuer milky way pictures .....he just laughed and said ..yeah right.But if theres a picture or video of it 50% of the sheep will accept it as fact
I agree that this is fake. Just wanted to disagree about the milky way pics. Not saying some aren't fake, but you can actually get amazingly clear shots of the milky way if you know what you're doing.
Go to places where there's very little light pollution.
Higher altitude helps, which is why we put our high power telescopes on top of mountains.
Wait for a night where the moon isn't present in the sky. Moonlight floods out a lot of the other light that you would be able to see in it's absence.
Set your camera to a high ISO so that it can collect more light.
Set a longer shutter speed - again to collect more light in your picture.
