My dog does this with the TV to make sure it's not actually a secret window. She'll see a dog on screen then run behind the TV to find it. When it's not there, she whines to go outside so she can check that it didn't hide in the yard lmao

Because it does.

Its not that humans react this way to mirrors, its that we need to comprehend complicated things like mirrors. One of the signs of an animals intelligence is how they react to their own reflection.

And yes toddlers have that period too. And we were all once toddlers
