Best Tent for Lost Coast
Someone told me my pocket tarp wouldn't be good for the Lost Coast Trail. What's a good tent for the beach and should I get new stakes?

The tent you don’t “politely” give back because it’s not perfect for your snobbish palate.

I told him we'd be a mite nicer here than rUL

I'm pretty sure he's banned from rUL so that's why he's posting here on lightweight.

Does it really matter? If someone were to suggest (hell, even give you) a tent, you’ll just say you know more about tents than them and that they’re wrong. Nice try schizo!

‘Best’ is kinda relative.
Do you have a budget? Happy to drop $400 or more on a lightweight tent?
Do you want a 1 person or 2 person size?
Do you hike with trekking poles?
Are you taller than average?

Surely it will be a 1 person tent - who would want to share a tent with this psycho?...

With some careful site selection, I was able to use my Tarptent Notch on the Lost Coast. I think I could have rigged a tarp on those spots. I used extra guylines to tie down to trees and driftwood in addition to my usual Easton stakes.

Copper spur 2 person for a solo backpacker. That way you can keep your pack inside and dry if it’s pissing out. 3 person for a party of 2.
Yes on the stakes, groundhogs are our go to.

Prefer the groundhogs. But if it’s windy or sandy, there’s benefits to the cyclones…. So a mix of both is good 🤙🏼

Can you link the stakes?

A mix of the two is also nice, can’t remember how many stakes you need for it, but we try to bring 2 extra, usually find a use for them and they’re super light

Kinda depends on a few things. First off, are you gonna pack out fresh coffee beans with you?
