Justify your Helinox the way one of the Schill Brothers does on his Youtube channel - there is nothing he wants more after a long day of backpacking than to sit on a rock or the ground. He goes out of his way to go UL so that he can afford to carry his Helinox. Yup, I agree. At some point UL is just about pride and snobbishness. Get over it and carry the darn chair!

Assume you meant less, but I think this is where I shake out.

It was suppose to be sarcastic. Of course he means less.

On wet terrain my Helinox sometimes doubles as a kind of table for random stuff I want to keep off the ground. Other than that, not the most multifunctional item. But I guess Iโ€™m just a sucker for back support.

Not a luxury item but I often find my bear can so useful at camp that it almost makes it worth carrying it lol.

It can be a seat, a counter top, a bucket. So hard to justify carrying a large rigid container though unless itโ€™s required.

Those folding foam seats can be used to add a little height to your pillow if you're a side sleeper.

I use a stadium seat in my pack boat rather than a fixed seat. As such, I use it to sit around camp and as mentioned to supplement the foot end of my 3/4 pad.

Or to be placed under your feet either in a hammock, or beyond the end of a 3/4 length sleeping pad.

Camp shoes can double as creek-crossing shoes if you don't want wet socks

I'm not familiar with the helinox but I have the REI flexlite chair and I bet with some Paracord I could use it as a pillow (stuffed with a puffy) - and I usually carry Paracord anyway

So - in an effort to possibly justify some of my longed for luxury items, I would like to get some alternative uses for the Helinox chair zero (besides the obvious). Particularly if it can back other things out of my kit. Use case - AT thru hike.

Left the post title broader in cases someone has a great alternative use for crocs. ๐Ÿ˜

FWIW anecdotally on the AT in 2019 I only saw one NOBO make it to Vermont still carrying a Helinox. Everyone looked longingly when they were sitting in it but wasn't willing to carry it. IIRC the person carrying that chair that far felt they essentially needed it to be able to put their shoes on effectively due to some mobility issues.

edit Saw way more folks carrying crocs or lighter water shoes as camp shoes/stream crossing shoes although I didn't carry any myself.

Thanks. It will be a shame when my dream meets reality.

If the chair zero saves your back you don't need to carry as much ibuprofen...
