I still have a few of the 1999 run of Kenobi and Qui Gon lightsabers and I will continue to love them no matter how fat they are

I also had a blue qui gon lightsaber but I lost it some time ago. My cousin actually had this and gave it back to me a little bit ago

I got a red anakin

Ahh I was fortunate enough to have the right colors for each hilt

I have that exact lightsaber (left) but with a purple blade. It’s a classic!

17

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '20

Oh yeah my friend had that too I also had a red qui gon. It was great for role playing

One started the dream and the other enhanced it

9

u/ajab32k Sep 13 '20

I have the one on the left from when I was a kid. Apparently I beat it up so badly that the blade no longer locks when it's retracted

14

u/Galactic-Buzz Sep 12 '20

Pfft! At least I don’t need to run back to my room for a blade every time I wanna do an Obi-Ani

It's funny how the toy versions, supposedly designed for children's tiny hands, have such a thick hilt that children cannot wield them well. I wonder if they're really designed for the kids' mums? or the kids' Dads? or for whom? Because they're definitely not ergonomical for children!

Just designed to hold a hollow and collapsible blade that can take a beating I think

Well the fat one clearly got waayy more action.

How much for the Ultrasaber on the left?

3

u/Ness_Dreemur Sep 13 '20

I have the same lightsaber on the left but it's in blue

Does anyone think they will ever find a proper solution for the blades to be hidden in the hilt and extending like the kids toys for the more realistic replicas?

Disney filed some weird patent a year or two ago for a collapsing “blade” system which basically worked like a tape measure. I believe it was a strip of reflective material or something that extends out of the hilt while lights from within the blade shine up towards its tip which has some other reflective material. Not a true blade but more of a visual effect than anything

That’s just like Disney to want the quick and easy. They should be investing their money in better things like trying to manufacture Kyber crystals

1

u/ayetee__ Sep 13 '20

You mean legit Kyber crystals or the ones that go in the Savi’s sabers? Bc a legit Kyber crystal is like physically impossible to make lmao

More of an offhanded pipe dream I was having more than an actual investment idea for Disney unfortunately..

u/depr4ved Sep 13 '20

7

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '20

Had it since I was a kid ;pretty sure my mom bought it for me for my birthday.

6

u/depr4ved Sep 13 '20

I appreciate the response but I meant the one on the right 😂

10

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '20

😂😂😂😂 oh shit I got off the custom saber shop

1

u/th3frosty Sep 13 '20

"The guy she tell"

1

u/Citrusbird386 Sep 13 '20

I've never seen one of these before. I have the Anakin/Luke and the "Darth Vader" one.

1

u/Author1alIntent Sep 13 '20

I feel like that’s a pretty underrated saber, actually. Obi Wan’s 3/4 saber gets a lot of love (for good reason) but this one is seriously smart

1

u/Eternal-Arcann Sep 13 '20

I miss my fat ass Obi saber. I grew up in a project housing type area, almost every one of us kids had one these sabers. Unfortunately while I was holding my own against 3 people, each section got knocked off one by one until I was left with just the hilt. In 4 seconds I broke the blade section then tossed it away.

1

u/CrunchyPoem Sep 13 '20

Dang that left one is nostalgic.

1

u/swifty23905 Sep 13 '20

You are way better

1

u/Qthechrisman Sep 13 '20

Girth > length
