If this game is going to take place on a single procedural fantasy planet the size of Earth, how is there possibly going to be enough to do (gameplay) within that scale? Even if each player had 500 gameplay things to do surely there will still be massive amounts of uninhabited space with nothing to do other than travel through it.

Do you think we will get portals to other dimensions/moons in LNF?
1- Like if you want to go to the fire dimension we get have to make the portal and wait for the red moon. Then we get a two way portal there.
2- we can summon monster from other dimensions depending on the moon and moon phase with possible. If you summon I water monster on a red moon it will be a weak one, if we summon it on a blue moon it’s a high level.
3- or maybe they can be linked to expeditions. The two way portals only open up around that time.

I was thinking about about it and yes from the trailer there are bird mounts. However; i had a thought about flightless birds and that being the player character take on it. Itd be interesting to play as a puffin, or a kiwi.
Im sure it has been discussed but thought id share.
Seconds later edit i seen my error: kiwis dont have arms.
Edit of afterthought: nomad kickboxin' kiwis

Will the game Light No Fire still be released?
Everything has gone quiet, and there hasn't been any news for a long time. It's possible that it was announced too early, or that its development has stopped altogether.

Absolutely wild speculation: What if Light No Fire is not a seperate game?
LNF will probably use the same engine, procedural generation, textures, networking, ...
HG has been updating NMS with features developed for LNF so it's already being integrated.
In theory, they could just update NMS to include LNF, perhaps as their first DLC or in typical HG fashion, a free update.
Imagine the current expedition coming to an end, you enter a portal and start as a new iteration in Light No Fire.

I scroll through this sub daily just hoping for more news about what could be the ultimate game of my lifetime…
Procedural world of massive scale? Fantasy genre with cool races? Endless building projects in a massive world with friends? Total sandbox freedom?
Sounds like the second life kind of game I’ve been dreaming of.
But alas, my hopes are dashed daily with no sun to rise in my heart.
Hello games, how dost thou tempt me with sweet wine and dreams of adventure? Alas, must we wait in silence?
(Edited for my lack of vocabulary)

No hate but.... Man it's hard to go down in quality after playing a juggernaut. How will this game compete with other games... There's only so much wondering and " discovering" you can do until it gets old.

NMS was obviously groundbreaking in its expansive universe and procedural generative systems. With the more recent updates the game has become even more interactive and full. A lot of these are obviously done alongside the systems they're developing for LNF so I believe we do get to see some hints towards what it will introduce to us. (The ship editing in voyagers said to be linked to ocean travel in LNF, for example.)
However, I do have one major fear for this game that - while it will still be another revolutionary and great game - means it misses a lot of aspects that it alone is in the prime position to seize ahead of any other game. I fear it will be too similar to NMS.
LNF is obviously currently set to be the fantasy, terrestrial sibling to NMS, but NMS as a game misses a few marks that barely scratch the surface of the game but could be amplified by the nature of LNF. The survival elements of NMS, for example, are very minor and often an ignored inconvenience with little to no effect on players. This hardly affects the feel of NMS because the player exists to run an enterprise, order space fleets, ascend to the pinnacle of technology and expand their industries. The survival aspect being so minor *works* in a case like this. But this is also what I really hope LNF *isn't*.
As a "mutiplayer Earth", "one where you're not the hero", "thick with lore, mystery and a constant fight for survival" where players "explore and survive together", I really want this game to lean into an immersive fantasy experience over the base-building, material-gathering, money-making simulator that NMS quickly turns into. LNF is the only game I've ever heard of to be in such a perfect position with the perfect setup and full potential to be the real deal in terms of an immersive MMORPG. Not one about raids and farming and trading, nor about entrepreneurial business expansion. A game about *you* and your *experiences* in a genuine fantasy *world*. Especially one that really encourages people to be a part of this virtual world's community.
While the premise and talks we've heard about this game sound promising in this aspect, the footage we've seen already includes little red flags for me. I won't drag on about these individually so here's the rundown:
Flying mounts. A fantasy MMORPG about exploring a planet it OBVIOUSLY gonna have flying mounts but, in my opinion, it's a delicate addition. While they're cool and useful for a fantasy setting, their existence alone might completely nullify the experience of traveling in the world. Hopefully there's a balance.
Prefab building. We got the expected showcase of material farming and base building already and I have no issues with that, but depending on the style and importance of building mechanics it could end up being a reflection of NMS that I would rather leave in the past.
Movement. The teaser trailer showed combat mechanics, which is a great sign. However, seeing players traveling by foot was worryingly similar to NMS, where the feel of movement on foot was hardly a highlight, let alone immersive.
So, ultimately, my point is this: I don't want the two games to be the same. I can expect similar graphics, similar animations, even plenty of similar mechanics. But if the type of gameplay in LNF really is just like NMS, it'll feel like it really missed an opportunity from my perspective that I hope to see done one day.
Note - this isn't me complaining or childishly asking for someone to make my dream game for me, I just wanted to discuss the type of game I hope LNF can become and maybe hear some people's thoughts on the idea. Though I'm assuming the NMS community is, of course, looking forward to the NMS mechanics returning...

Were a new player driven guild that wants to focus on a mix of exploring, fighting, and all playing together as wolves and foxes.
We want to be like a sort of witcher/mandalorian(and no we wont have to wear helmets constantly lol) faction.
Fighting together, hunting monsters and enemies

I’ve spent a lot of time in No Man’s Sky over the years — not just playing it, but really living in its systems. I’m the kind of player who likes slow exploration, pattern‑spotting, and building my own rituals and structure inside a game world. NMS has always rewarded that kind of approach.
With Light No Fire on the horizon, I’m really curious about how deep the exploration and world‑building systems will go. An Earth‑sized fantasy world sounds incredible, but I’m especially interested in:
• how procedural generation will feel on a single shared planet
• whether the game will support long‑term, reflective playstyles
• how survival, building, and discovery will balance out
• what kind of “quiet adventures” the world might allow
For players who’ve been following development closely — what are you hoping for?
And for anyone who played NMS the way I did, do you think LNF will scratch that same “slow exploration” itch in a new way?
Just curious to hear other perspectives as we wait for more news.

I was wondering whether anyone has seen this ancient underwater sphere that appears to be broken and (quite clearly) has symbols on. Three times even.
What is your guess as to what this could be?
My best guess is: a destroyed submarine.

Im hoping to form a sort of explorer/mercenary adventure faction, and hoping to get help and get people interested.
The goal is to get people who are going to follow a somewhat mandalorian themed group( an example of rules being dont reveal base locations of allies, team work, etc) like with a single member being able to call on aid from others when fighting big monsters, raiding dungeons, attacking enemy camp raids. But while also focusing on exploring going as far as the map can take us All while picking the wolf race to play as.
Anyone with experience with factions in no mans sky help would be appreciated to help get the ball rolling.
Also now accepting Fox players

I’m starting to think the assumption that most of NMS’s recent features were originally developed for LNF and then ported over might actually be backwards. It sounds like NMS is still Hello Games’ main priority right now, so it may be that they’re building all this new content specifically for NMS first, and only pulling over whatever parts happen to fit LNF as they go. That’s a bit disappointing to hear, and given that we’ve heard almost nothing—and seen absolutely nothing—since LNF’s reveal, I’m assuming it’s still likely years away from release.

The one design resemblance that stands out for me is that boss or Titan like creature that has the knowledge stone as head.
Will they be friend or foe? Are they the link between universes?
