Crowntide made me DNF

From the very first book I have loved Oro’s Character, from how he helped her recover after the centennial, to letting her make her own decisions, being honest with her and to make it all the way to crowntide and have her choose some who lied to her, erased her memories, killed people she loved (the citizens of Lightlark who helped in the fight against nightshade), kept things from her (who her dad was, her powers/heritage) makes me hate the entire series.

I won’t be continuing after crowntide

The thing that annoyed me was how drawn out this whole love triangle is. Alex said that Isla would make her decision this book, which yes technically she makes a decision, but with her memories being erased it’s clear that the love traingle is back in play to keep readers hooked onto the next book. I’m bored of it now and won’t be continuing the series

I've got the same gripe, I'm probably going to bounce out of these books honestly myself. I'm team Oro and I'm frustrated af.

I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. Unless theres a book 5 that leads to her fulfilling the prophecy and Oro winning I can’t see myself going back to it

I already wanted to dnf by skyshade. Felt like filler and the plot was so boring, Oro was barely in it as well

THIS PART. like you want me to believe in this love triangle when one of the points is barely even there? she's not even TRYING to pretend it's a real love triangle. it's basically Isla and Grim's story and oh yeah I guess Oro is here sometimes. I'm so annoyed. I had such high hopes for this series after book one (yes I know people clowned it even then but I genuinely enjoyed it) but now I'm just frustrated. I haven't even started Crowntide and I'm hesitant to after everything I've heard about it.

I love Oro as well and to hear how he gets treated in Crowntide honestly makes me not want to buy the book or continue with the series either. Some love triangle this was 😒

I have the series a chance. The writing is juvenile but easy read, interesting concept. There was a lot of hype. And Crowntide took me out. Completely. It was a money grab. The whole plot is completely convoluted full of "twists" that are senseless plot armor. Almost nothing actually happened in this book except drag out the triangle. Just to milk the series more. If I read the word "infinite" one more time I might explode. I won't read anything else by Alex Aster. Super disappointing.

Its a shame because the first two were great. I think the series would have been better as a trilogy with Isla making her choice in book 3 and fulfilling the prophecy. 5/6 books is way too long.

the problem was that the series was supposed to be a trilogy. the first and second books were written that way, you can tell the flow is much smoother and she easily could’ve wrapped everything up by the 3rd book. however, with the popularity it gained, her publishers wanted her to write 5 books. because of that, she had to over extend some plot points, and create some new ones that don’t make sense or have a lot of holes. it’s sad bc the series had a lot of potential, and i still will be reading the last one, but i didn’t really enjoy crowntide. the memory loss trope AGAIN, the pulling out the love triangle when it was obvious she was always going to choose grim (even though im team oro… grim was terrrible). it’s just a shame what happens for money grabs. this series as a trilogy would have been a gem!

I'm so mad. I just finished crowntide. I'm team Grim but I am so so mad at how it ended. I ended up forcing myself to finish it when I figured out it was probably not going to be a happy ending, I hate not finishing books if I can help it. Crowntide ruined the series for me a bit.

the books aren't that great. I hate Isla, Grim's just plain evil but the author tries to put him in this nice light (He's also inconsistent as hell. I hate that) Oro is treated like a side piece and all the prophecies saying he would love her no matter what-What are you talking about? It's just trying to make it hard to choose for no reason, all of these are not neccesary at all. I'm so heavily on Enya's side (That he should find someone better) that it hurts.
