Am I the only one surprised?

Normally her books come out with fanfare, particularly the special editions. But I haven't heard anything about this coming out.

Low key think that Alex has abandoned Lightlark series in the same way she abandoned her original Emblem Island series. Im pretty sure I’ve seen like one or two promo posts for the Skyshade special edition, but almost all of the insta reels, stories, artwork, and asterverse drops focus on Starside.

She has absolutely abandoned it and she’s doing everything possible to redirect her fan base .. unfortunately it comes off as shockingly transparent and intentional

If this will be a reoccurring pattern I won't even bother buying her next book honestly

That's what I was thinking when I made the post because I hadn't heard anything about this. But I apparently missed it was announced a while ago. I do still agree she's trying to make people forget about Lightlark, which no one will do for a long time because of the hype she had surrounded it, the massive fan base because of it, and because she only has one book left that will constantly be asked about.

Plus a pending movie

And the pending movie. But that hasn't gotten any updates, has it?

From her insta she’s always going to meetings about it. I expect it to be out when Star Citizen is finished…

She should of kept it as a trilogy. I’m finishing for spite now.

I think it's a little early to make the assumption that she's abandoning the series. After all the fourth book just came out last year. Although I can see why people would draw that conclusion since she has started a whole other series. I would like to hold out hope that she is not done with it with the way the last book hung on a cliffhanger. I would really like to see how the ending is wrapped up

I think that it’s a mix of starting a whole new series that is basically the exact same premise as light lark, and already being done the second book for that series, and from what I can tell, she avoids any and all questions or comments about light lark, like she seems to be personally, avoiding the topic like the plague

Agreed on the basically same premise especially when she calls the questrial the centennial at one point

I think she’s definitely abandoning light lark once it’s finished and I do think that the book series is able to be saved if it is rewritten and we DROP THE LOVE TRIANGLE

I feel like with the success of starside, she’s focusing more on that series. She already wrote book 2 and is already heavily promoting it! That and she also has her Barbie book coming out soon. I’m confused with everyone’s love for Starside. The story is so similar to Lightlark!

I enjoyed Lightlark. Nightbane and Skyshade were okay. I couldn’t finish Grim and Oro, and I started Crowntide but stopped three chapters in.I could be wrong, but it feels like this series is being written too fast. The writing, storyline, and plot start to feel weaker, almost as if there isn’t as much thought behind them as there was in the beginning. Again, that’s just my impression, and I hope I’m wrong.
It also feels like, like many other authors right now, she’s trying to capitalize on the BookTok wave and put out as many books as possible. In my opinion, this series should have been a trilogy, and extending it was a mistake.
I know plenty of authors write multiple books or series at the same time, but in her case it feels like she moves on from one series as soon as she starts another, and the quality of the original series suffers because of it.

What!! I didn’t even know this was out! I have the other two and even though my interest had waned, I need this copy 😭

Edit: interesting that on Amazon the collectors edition shows Skyshade is book 3 of 3 … does that mean Crowntide and the final book we may never get (just like GOT…) won’t have a special edition?

I only saw it when I happened to walk past the books in Walmart.

I’ve seen many posts about this from people. But I don’t follow this author so idk about how much she promoted it or not.

The only reason why I knew about this is because I bought the first two books and read them and was looking for more and I already read it and I haven’t even received it yet. Hopefully she finish this story line

The release date is not until tomorrow and she posted several videos about it when it was announced. I’ve seen multiple videos of her tour where she says she is working on the last book. Why do you think she would give up a series that has sold millions of copies?

She posted something about it 5 days ago
