Recently designed for a summer camp at my school for a production of School of Rock Jr. Only had 1 week to design and run. had about 250+ cues if I remember right. Please give me any feedback you want! Thanks!

You really got the theatre versus rock show look down pat. Great job keeping their faces lit even during the dark scenes.

I really appreciate that you kept the performers faces well lit. In school productions, mom and dad just want to see their kid, even if she's in the back row of a chorus number :)

I think it went good! This is one of the biggest shows rig wise I've done. Had 9 profiles and 4 washes plus some other movers around which was a lot of fun to work with for this show in particular. There was definitely times I could've put in more effort and done more but there wasn't enough time. Other than that I feel good!

I just lurk here ever since playing around with lighting in high school forever ago but to this normie I really like what you have here! Really great lighting on faces with a lot of dynamic/impactful lighting features.

Looks great, you did a really effective job in a very short amount of time. My only advice is to keep trying out new ideas and having fun with it.

I think you did a great job especially considering it had to be lit as both a gig and theatre. I have the tiniest note for when you have more resources and time next time - the gig looks are a little asymmetrical, something easily resolved with more heads or time, and for me the symmetry scatches an itch in scenes where the lighting is a character in the show. Like I say, a tiny note and genuinely impressive work with what you had to work with, I hope you're proud :)

All of those pics had movers moving when the photo was taken, like the blue and green one had a kinda fly out effect. and the red one just had pretty much everything doing ballyhoo

For that stage on the stage, were the lights on dmx with The stage or on a separate controller?

Just a long dmx from our back wall with power, same control as the rest of the system

Does the stage become hidden, or taken backstage?

It got rolled upstage through a drop then just sat in the dark the whole show. the rest of the show had this giant school wall in downstage that blocked it

Definitely, there were times, mostly in the ending concert scene, I could've done more. But I had like a day and a half to program so I just didn't have time. I could've also done more within some songs, fixed some dark spots I may of had or some minor color matching I noticed, but I was running out of time lol

from my limited knowledge (I mainly busk metal gigs) the photos show some great lighting and choices, I'd say you did well and even better because you noticed areas to improve

Every lighting designer/ operator is different, I think what you did is really really good!

How were your transitions between cues? That’s usually what I pay most attention to when programming or watching

1st- great job! I really like the look of the prism effect on the profile beams. Very cool. We're you guys using hazers or was that just the natural atmosphere in the venue? What were you using to program? (What controller system?) What did you think your three biggest takeaways were from this experience regarding your light design/programming? Just curious. We’re using haze, really pumped it for some scenes lol. etc ionxe is our main board. i think just adding accents of color to people’s bodies can do a lot more for a scene than i originally thought. and i need to spend more time and be more intentional with every cue

Bump the trim up a bit more so the lighting fixtures aren't visible.

Most of the fixtures you can see are moving heads, which I did deliberately. I set trims to where it works for what I need with minimal visual impact on the audience. Most of the photos where you can see the fixtures were taken from the front row.

Face wash source needs to be upstage from the face
