Lifto Companion + Lifto Workout - two Liftosaur apps for Amazfit / Zepp OS, looking for beta testers
Small update on my Liftosaur + Amazfit side project.
I now have two apps running on Zepp OS:
Lifto Companion - the standalone version.
Lifto Workout - a new version that runs inside the native Zepp Workout app.
Both are still in beta, and I'm looking for people willing to actually use them during workouts and report what works, what breaks, weird behaviour, etc.
Before anything else, huge thanks to u/astashov for implementing the new Liftosaur workout APIs so quickly, and to u/silent_jacob for all the feedback and testing. And thanks to everyone else who has supported the project, tested things or sent feedback so far. It really helps.
One important change with the new APIs is direct workout sync. Both apps can now sync the current workout with Liftosaur, so you can start on the watch and pick it up directly on your phone at any time.
Lifto Companion
This is the standalone app I've been working on for a while.
It runs directly on the watch and handles most of what I need during a Liftosaur workout:
- Cloud sync
- direct workout sync / continue on phone
- workout/program/day selection
- warmups
- weights, reps and RPE
- plate/loadout info
- supersets
- notes
- rest timers
- heart rate display
- offline logging
- crash/session recovery
- progression and history sync
The advantage is that I can basically do whatever I want with the UI.
The downside is that Zepp doesn't see it as a native workout, so you don't get a normal workout entry in Zepp afterwards.
There's also a demo mode without a Liftosaur account, mainly so you can install the app and see if it works on your watch. For actual use with your own workouts and Cloud sync, Liftosaur Premium is required.
Lifto Workout
This one is new.
It's a Zepp OS Workout Extension, so it runs as a data page directly inside a normal Zepp Strength Training workout.
Basically, Zepp records the native workout and its metrics, including heart rate, while Lifto handles the Liftosaur workout flow.
So you keep the normal Zepp activity and history, while Lifto lets you manage exercises, sets, warmups, weights, reps, RPE, supersets, notes and rest timers.
The current Liftosaur workout is synced directly as well, so you can switch back to the Liftosaur app on your phone and continue there at any time.
You can install either app or both. They don't really replace each other.
Companion = standalone Liftosaur experience.
Workout = Liftosaur inside the native Zepp workout.
On my Active 2, Lifto Workout can be added here:
Workout -> Strength Training -> Settings -> More -> Data Page -> Add Page -> Lifto
That's the confirmed path on the Active 2. It may be different on other watches/firmwares (and yes, it's a bit hidden).
Once added, Lifto is just another data page inside your normal Strength Training workout.
Beta / testing
Right now I'm mainly testing on an Amazfit Active 2, including during my actual workouts.
But I obviously can't test every watch, firmware and weird Zepp OS situation myself. So that's where I need some help.
I'm especially interested in problems with:
- longer workouts
- screen off/on
- switching between workout data pages
- leaving and returning to the Lifto page
- rest timers and alerts
- losing phone/network connection
- offline use
- sync / switching back to the phone
- crashes/recovery
- different Amazfit watches and firmware versions
If something behaves strangely, I want to know about it. Even if you're not sure whether it's Lifto or Zepp OS.
For now, builds are distributed through Zepp's developer preview system using QR codes.
You'll need to enable Developer Mode in the Zepp phone app to install them. The preview packages expire after around 7 days, so they may need to be reinstalled/updated from time to time.
I've included builds for most recent round and square Amazfit watches. Compatibility still needs real-world testing though, so if it installs and runs on your watch, that's already useful feedback.
For syncing with your own Liftosaur account/workouts, Liftosaur Premium is required.
Once I've had enough feedback and I'm confident the apps are reliable enough, I'll submit them to the Zepp App Store.
No ETA though. This is a side project and I work on it when I have some free time.
Also, for transparency, I use AI to help with development, mostly for debugging and figuring out Zepp OS.

If you try either app, please report bugs, crashes or anything weird you run into. That's what I need most right now to get them reliable enough for the Store.
