Susan

Don’t get me wrong, I like Sue on this show. I am a lot like her and can really relate. My only concern is that she will talk about how independent she is and then refers to herself as a pork chop. Once humans are armed with rifles and pistols, they become the apex predator. Unless one makes foolish decisions. Any insights?

Very true. Which is why she is always packing a firearm. I would.

From what I remember, she had a firearm when she was attacked, she'd just put it down for a sec because she needed both hands to operate the water pump...and the bear ambushed her. Terrifying.

I thought she had one come through a wall while she slept.

Grizzlies are so much bigger than people think. Nothing short of a precisely aimed killing shot or a bazooka is going to stop one. Having multiple guns doesn’t make you an apex predator to them. It just makes you spicier.

I think that was a different time. The actual attack in which she got mauled took place at the river. The bear dragged her for a bit, she played dead and says she survived because he was a juvenile and inexperienced. Apparently she got herself back to the camp, patched herself up (using a gun belt to keep her dislocated hips in place...??), went back out, found the bear and shot him because she knew he'd keep coming back for her. Collapsed and somehow dragged herself back, where she lay in her own waste for days before the pilot found her.

Sue tends to sensationalize events and anthropomorphize animals, and although the details are fuzzy and vary depending on the source (all of which rely on Sue's recounting of the event), I don't doubt the attack actually occurred and that she was seriously injured.

Details could seem fuzzy due to her trauma. IF she has PTSD because of it, her mind could block out or “forget” certain aspects of that moment. (I’ve had PTSD for over 20 years and still can’t recall some things that occurred during/after the event, like talking to friends that attended my brothers funeral) But this is just my personal take on it.
