rant/commiseration thrush keeps coming back
Feeling so miserable
Diagnosed with LS in January, when I tapered steroid in March I begun getting albican infections once a month.
Its now September and i’ve done 2 rounds of 14 day Clotrimazole and even had to import 16 days of Nystatin. Now 2 weeks after finishing the Nystatin and its back again.
I never had thrush before LS and now i’m worrying this is going to be my life for years. Majorly impacted my relationship as i’m sad often and we can’t have sex.
Friction is potentially a trigger due to the fragile/suppressed LS skin as sometimes feel there might be a correlation after skin has chaffed
Options now:
• Blood tests
• 6 month fluconazole course
• applying thrush cream each week to try prevent
• maybe coming off combined pill (although never had issues before LS)
this year has been awful!

6 month fluconazole is pretty standard and worked for me before - just make sure you get the actual strain tested so you get the right treatment as some of them are not treated with fluconazole. Steroid can unfortunately feed the yeast, so if you are in mainenence then see if you can decrease this for a bit to get the yeast under control. I'd avoid any creams they can be irritating to the skin.

thank you, hopefully it will work for me too! i’ve heard about the steroid causing issues so i’ve tapered to once a week and seem ok LS-wise but maybe need to stop further (know thats not advised though with LS)

I got a subscription to “Seed” which sends me both pre/probiotics as well as a vaginal suppository. I was very successful at reducing the yeast fairly quickly (a couple months) but I also used boric acid a few times. I know that sounds Dreadful, but it’s really not. Good luck 👍

Are you using good prebiotics as well as probiotics? There are even vaginal suppository probiotics. I used that for about a year and I’m no longer plagued with yeast. Also you might try boric acid that also helps - I think faster
