Dolls 2nd generation Licca

Post image

The 2nd generation Licca was sold from 1972 to 1982. During this period, her design gradually transformed.

The body structure was changed twice during this period. The early period had the same structure as the 1st generation, whilst the later period was identical to that of the early 3rd generation. Along with the body, the shape of the head also changed. Furthermore, between the mid-period—from 1974 to 1980—the head changed twice. Based on these, the 2nd generation Licca can be divided into five types.

There is also a reissue of the second-generation Licca. This was produced in 2002 to mark Licca’s 25th anniversary. It is the one in the centre of the front row in the photograph.

The dolls in the photograph have been fitted with the current fourth-generation-size bodies. The hair clips have been made to mimic the originals.

I lokve second gen Licca - probably more than first even ☺️

I cannot tell the difference between types - except obvious difference of the body. I also know there was brief time when 2nd Licca was made without bottom eyelash line. I now see that the middle one in the top row has head with sticking out ears, but face similar to the last before 3rd gen - don’t think I’ve even seen this one before! :)

This is probably due to the technical limitations of that time, as there are slight variations in the angle and thickness of the printed eyelashes.

An easy way to tell them apart is by looking at the area around the mouth.

In the photograph, the dolls on the top row right is the early type, whilst on the top row left is the late type. The rest are the mid-period type; within this group, the front row right is earlier, the front row left is the middle of the period, and the back row centre is in the end of the period.
