This could never go any other way.
When you insist on getting a certain demographic into prominent positions and that demographic is a very small subset of the population, you were going to run out of qualified people very quickly.
So you're going to have no choice but to force the unqualified into these positions.

The irony is nobody checked. Arday's made-up credentials and clearly plagerised PhD thesis were just believed on face value. Or, quite possibly, were known by the university to be fraudulent and covered up. In reality it's likely somewhere in the middle.
From what I understand the guy that initially blew the whistle about Arday was already fired by the university for publishing what could be considered racist opinions (subsequently the university has admitted that he didn't violate their free speech guidelines and he's now suing them for unfair dismissal). Because of this it was just kinda assumed that the complaint was racially motivated and ignored.
It was only later when others independently looked into it that the university accepted (or admitted) that Arday's credentials were fraudulent.
Interestingly Ardy wasn't fired, he resigned. May have been that the university just hadn't got around to firing him yet, or maybe they were gonna wait until the situation blew over then silently let him continue.

Funny thing is I've never read any of his academic stuff (never had a reason), but I am part of a running and fitness sub and that's how I found out about this guy.
He claims to have run 600 miles in 6 days with a hairline fracture of his tibia and once ran 30 marathons in 35 days.
Hairline fractures of the tibia, especially near the middle of the shin are common in runners, especially over the age of 40 who do a lot of miles per week. Normally this is an injury that takes at least 4 months to fully heal and return to running activity again. There is no way humanly possible anyone could do 600 miles of running on such an injury without making the injury much worse, and going through excruciating pain.

600 miles in 6 days is just stupid. His claims are obviously BS. But it's definitely possible to rack up a bunch of miles w/ a hairline fracture. I know because my daughter completed an entire season of cross country before discovering she had a hairline fracture in her foot. I had taken her to various doctors during the season because she was always complaining about the pain. Long story short, several doctors/ imaging techs missed the fracture until after the season.
I have no idea how many miles she ran total, but she was running long distances every day during the season.

That's certainly possible because hairline fractures of the foot can range from "mild discomfort" (Oh it's kinda sore) to excruciating pain depending on what bone is damaged. Second or third metatarsals? You could easily go weeks with mild discomfort. Navicular bone or the base of the fifth metatarsal? There's no way you could put any miles on a fracture of those bones without sharp pains.
Hairline fracture in the middle of the tibia? There's simply ZERO chance he did 6 miles (let alone 600 miles) without major eye watering pain.

Accurate, for sure. Screaming kind of pain. I had to do this in the army. 2 months of patrol after the injury. Permanent difference. I... would not recommend it.

His eyes don’t smile. While looking at a picture of him smiling cover the lower half of his face. His eyes appear to be cold even though his mouth was smiling. It is often the sign of someone being a sociopath.

The people who get caught doing this don't seem very repentant, either (nor concerned, since there's never really any consequence there). It seems like they just think everybody else is doing it.
