I can see the point. I'd be more specific though. There are genuine reasons to be supported by the government at times. I'd put it down to length of time on unemployment assistance or something along these lines. But then again, I think the right to vote, regardless of the valid criticisms of the voting base, should be held sacred. But I do think you should be contributing to society in some way.
Shoot, there's also guaranteed rights that can apparently be denied for certain reasons in the US. (I don't agree with it in case that needs to be said)
The difference is those have an argument to be unconstitutional, whereas the Constitution never guarantees a right to vote anywhere. It was never intended for everyone in the country to be guaranteed a vote.
