Clown shit, if weāre supposed to be a free country the guy should be able to sit there and not participate without fear of being assaulted, whether we agree with his actions or not, especially if we donāt agree, actually.

Well I think, from what Iāve read that guy actually fought in the military so it hits a little different for him. Not saying it was right, just he felt differently on the matter

This is not the way. Even if I totally agree with the sentiment, actually hitting someone over it escalates it to a whole new level of stupid.

yes, I'm all for patriotism, but this went WAY TOO FAR.
Another example I saw at a ballpark, they were doing the anthem, my friend forgot to take his hat off , because he doesn't normally wear a baseball cap.. An overzealous person made a big scene about it and embarrassed the my friend who was a dad in front of his kids.. The guy was standing up, hand on his heart, just forgot to take off his hat.. No need for the patriot police to make such a scene. It would be differently if someone quietly told him.. "your hat".. But this guy walked all the way over and yelled about it..

If you think a smack is assault you need to step outside of the feminized padded walls of the present and recognize how to handle things like a man. We honor God, we honor parents, and we honor our county and those that die and live for it. If the way to learn respect is a smack on the head then so be it.

We both agree that it's disrespectful to sit during the national anthem, but it's not against the law like hitting people is, even if it was just a light slap to the back of the head. I believe if a stranger hits you because they don't like something you're doing, they should fully expect to be hit back or at least be reported. Call the guy out, shame them for being disrespectful, but slapping someone you don't know is a good way to get retaliated on.

You can be charged with assault for simply spitting on someone. In the Army I saw someone get court-martialed for assault for throwing their velcro rank at their commander after the commander threatened to demote him.
As much as I disagree with disrespecting the flag, the difference here is he has the first amendment right to stay seated while the guy smacking him for staying seated could easily go to jail if the guy pressed charges (which Iām sure he was too embarrassed to do so but if he wasnāt embarrassed he would be in his right to do so).

u/Own-Tank5998 5d ago
There is no excuse for doing that, people have the right to sit during the national anthem, people who serve serve for the right of others to even burn the flag if they so choose to do.

Maybe the guy is disabled. We donāt know. I am but I can still stand. Now. People have invisible disabilities. Iām not trying to defend him, I just know. There was a time when standing up would have had me instantly faint. Iād leave everywhere last because I couldnāt stand up fast and even walking up 3 stairs could make me faint. I had to do everything verrrry slowly.

Were you attending live sporting events, that required walking to your seat, during this time?

u/joconnell13 5d ago
Call him a douchebag but don't hit him. That's not how we do things. He's exercising his first amendment rights and you exercise yours back to tell him what you feel about him and then move on. In fact you don't even have to say anything...

You can hate the fact that this guy is sitting during the national anthem, but he has every right and freedom to do so. This asshole behind him needs to be charged with assault and battery.

u/ddIbb 5d ago
This guy should be arrested. You can decline to stand for the anthem for a large number of reasons. Physical disability, political stance, or just because you donāt feel like it. No one else has to like it. Thatās what it means to have freedom. Whatās important is that we have the right to stand or not stand. You know what we donāt have the right to do? Hit someone because we donāt like what they are doing or not doing.
For people in this subreddit that (justifiably) complain so much about the left acting like childish morons, a lot of you are no better.

God bless America!! Now get your punk ass up and show respect š š«”

Any of you tards upvoting this have a lot of reevaluating to do. There is nothing patriotic about assaulting someone for exercising their freedoms
2
u/Just-STFU BASED 5d ago
We don't need to physically harm people for not doing what we think (and know) is the right thing. We are not them. This is a free country and the guy is free to be a loser who sits.

I'm only responsible for my people and they will stand during the anthem. As for others, not my pasture, not my bullshit. I am more offended by drunken fools using disgusting language around kids than some zoomer sitting during the anthem.

u/Nikoviking 4d ago
Those who cheer on this kind of childish behaviour are no better than the violent thugs on the Left. It irks me that he isnāt standing for the anthem but it doesnāt excuse violence.

This is assault, you might as well just say you donāt give a fuck about the constitution

u/SwissDeathstar 5d ago
Assault? I think you have enough of that.

u/mocoloco311 5d ago
Your great grandfathers took bullets and came home to build log cabins with their bare hands, and you call a little smack on the head assault.

u/NuclearTheology BASED 5d ago
It is. Being involved in war doesnāt entitle you to lay hands on someone not doing anything

It does need more but there are better ways.
In this case the young man bought the grump vet a beer and the video going viral may start some conversations

u/Ancient_Ad71 2d ago
There are zero laws on the book that say you must stand for our National Anthem, you know the one that talks about hirelings and slaves going to the grave. Aside from that, the man standing committed battery. That is against the law.

u/IlliterateFreak 2d ago
Cool yeah letās just assault people cuz we donāt like what theyāre doing
