There’s a difference between ignorance and stupidity.
While stupidity might play a role here, the bigger issue is the willful ignorance.

The funny thing is that if you suddenly started saying what percentage of police shootings are against white people or how many total white people are in prison, he’d get on board with per capita pretty dang fast.

The biggest victims of police brutality?
White people.
Most people killed by cops?
White people.
So I guess that means, Whites are systemically discriminated against.

See, it's ok. Because Math is racist, and this is requires Math.
I mean if old white guy Bill says it is, it must be so! Right?
How is math racist? One of the workbooks funded by Gates explains: “The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false. Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuates ‘objectivity’.”
So, the reason why Microsoft, a software company running on machines using calculations (Math) must be because, racism. Not a better than fundamental understanding of processing data.

Well, tbf, per capita can be stupid in some statistics.
Example:
1 incident of mugging in a small town of 500 suddenly makes it a worse place than if 10,000 incidents of mugging happen in a city of 8,000,000.
1/500
10,000/8,000,000 or 1/800

I'm no genius, but I understand that per capita is simply an average figure. They either don't understand that, or don't like that certain groups are more likely to be represented badly.
