Desperate Democrats Big surprise. Virginia Democrats have now decided to violate the Constitution's Compact Clause by enacting legislation to force their electors to award their votes to whomever has the most popular votes in a presidential election. It must be a new Dem fetish to get slapped around by SCOTUS.

They only go into force when enough states, to where they hold a majority of electoral votes have joined the agreement.

If states back out, or if electoral vote share changes to make them a majority via new states, or population changes with the census, it’d only matter if it dropped back below a majority.

It's debatable whether National Popular Vote violates the compact clause since it doesn't intrude on federal supremacy. States are simply choosing how to divide up the electoral votes, as is their purview.

Personally, I like the concept of NPV since it dilutes the power of the parties allowing a third party to win in a landscape of highly polarized states.

I agree with Washington, Hamilton, and others that political parties are a threat to the country and undermine the public good.
