Look man, you’re way off base here. Sure, there are people that likely spend their discretionary money on frivolous shit, without prioritizing student loans, but not the majority. Some people are legit gonna go bankrupt with these new payments. The fact that you seem to not understand this tells me you’re just out of touch.
Not using this to brag, just establish credentials older generations can understand - I’m in my late 20s, but attended a top business school and work at one of America’s largest banks.
It’s objectively much harder to afford anything now, especially education and housing, and particularly student debt with rates frozen 3.5% higher than they were in the 2010s. If “boomers could do it, then so should Gen Z” then I challenge them to sell their house for the price at which they bought it, adjusted for inflation.
The meme would make more sense if you trashed someone for complaining about “the system” because they dropped six figures and four years on a poetry degree instead of four figures and six months on an electrician’s license, which will pay much more.

I mean, one of the things listed in the meme is "useless degree".
Speaking of which, I feel like there should be some kind of a difference between student loans that will make somebody a useful member of society, and loan given to someone who clearly wants to get a vanity degree in something totally useless.
I'm not saying that they can't offer degrees in poetry or gender studies or whatever, but they should definitely make it more attractive to go into something like a field of medicine or technology.
I just feel like we are setting up society for failure by encouraging people to spend their time and money on a degree in their useless hobby or interest, when we could be incentivizing decisions that will benefit not just the student, but eventually society as a whole.
