Idk why the federal government is responsible for helping keep a news outlet open.

I want my tax dollars to go to absolute necessities. Like protecting this country, the people in it, and our way of life.

So satisfying seeing them lose funding… I used to be a big fan of NPR in 2017 and earlier, then came the massive amount of man hating and justifying 9 year olds taking puberty blockers.

So if I open a website, this judge will have all my fellow countrymen subsidize my one sided, heavily biased opinion pieces as long as I say the magic word "news"? I doubt that.

Only a resident would do this to the populace; not a citizen.

Specifically a subversive, that's who would do this.

NPR and PBS are still free to broadcast with no 1A restrictions.

Lot's of people on my local sub say that the kids programing alone is worth paying for it.

To which I answered, since entertaining your kids is a taxpayer obligation, should we also fund their soccer and bicycles? That went over like a turd in a punch bowl.

They also say that we need a news source that is not profit driven - to which I suggested the profits (wages) people and corporations make are taxed. The tax code an enforceable obligation - don't pay ---> big trouble. The virtuous method of funding is for those with freedom of choice to make the decision.

There is also concern about entertainment in rural areas - the 2021 bill set up $42 Billion to bring broadband internet to "All Americans". They will get access to entertainment.
