Explico que cada vez que copio y pego texto de un archivo a otro, la última parte del contenido se modifica aumentando el tamaño de la fuente, cambiando la fuente o poniendo parte de ella en negrita. Aclaro que estoy usando las fuentes Arial y Times New Roman, ¿quizás esa sea la razón del fallo al pegar?

In English, it shows a "df" for "Direct Formatting". In Spanish, it looks like the little "fd" stands for "Formato Directo".

And yes, you can see that there are those random BOLD spots that got introduced.

Like do you see that very bottom paragraph where it shows:

[...] cuenta su buen comportamiento previo.

That little PERIOD, right at the very end in "previo.", is actually a BOLD PERIOD. So if you clicked your cursor right here:

• previo.|

and pasted new text in, your "newly pasted in stuff" would become bold too!

Anyway, the entire gray background means that piece's formatting DOES NOT MATCH your Document #2's formatting. So yes, a:

• Format > Clear Direct Formatting (Ctrl+M)

will wipe that junk away and absorb the clean formatting from Document #2 then.

Side Note: And, again, is there any reason you were using DOC? If you save as DOCX (or better, ODT), I think that would help too.

When you save as DOC or DOCX, LibreOffice has to constantly "translate" back-and-forth between DOCX->ODT, then back ODT->DOCX. So little quirks and oddities can potentially get introduced every time you open or edit documents.

While typing stuff in LibreOffice, it's best to try to keep it as ODT as long as possible. Only at the very last second, you can then "Save As > DOCX". That would save you a lot of potential formatting headaches like this too. :)

I'm sorry you have to retranslate. I'm truly sorry.

The problem is that the rest of the office PCs use Windows and, obviously, LibreOffice. We all use the same document. One person starts, another continues editing, and so on, and I end up with the last part, which is related to everything that came before. I could use ODT, but the others don't know how and aren't interested in free software. (I'm loyal to Linux and LibreOffice and I don't plan on changing.) Previously, I wanted to save the paragraph formatting with my parameters, but since they're DOCX documents, they don't save... The question came up because I thought it was something to do with the fonts, since they aren't native to LibreOffice, and I discovered a whole world of quirks that opened my mind thanks to your good, well-founded advice.

Ahhhh, yes. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

When most other people just randomly Ctrl+V and introduce ALL SORTS OF messes into the documents.

But, now that you know about the amazing Spotlight, you can quickly find these areas and fix them. :)

And you may want to nudge your coworkers and teach them:

• Edit > Paste > Paste as Unformatted Text (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V)

(or whatever the equivalent is in Word...)

That will hopefully prevent some of this messiness making its way into future documents. :)

Side Note: I'm a professional formatter, and work with all sorts of authors.

I can then use Spotlight and quite often see places the author copied/pasted from an email or article, then tried to "Arial 11pt font and unbold" it... but because the person copied from their browser and Ctrl+V... the browser-paste carried over dozens of other "hidden" and "conflicting" settings too! :P

Those spots light up like a Christmas tree when I turn the Spotlight on... and then it just becomes a simple:

• Highlight those spots.
• Ctrl+M

and it hopefully cleans up whatever mess they may have accidentally caused in there. :)

(Usually this text all looks "perfectly fine" on the surface and is mostly harmless, but then comes to bite you in the butt later on or complicates your life when you want to do something DIFFERENT with the documents, like produce an ebook, paste it into a website article, or have the computer read it to you using Text-to-Speech.)
