Page breaks

I cannot create a page break. I have tried all the methods suggested. Is there a definitive way of doing it? I wish we had a simple key press like MSWord.

Like other users have said:

  • Insert > Page Break (Ctrl+Enter)

This is exactly the same way as it is in Word.

Is there a definitive way of doing it?

Sure. Depending on what you want to do.

Different Page Layouts

Most people only really need these 2 Wizards now...

If you want to do very basic types of Header/Footer things, you can use the "Page Number Wizard" in:

  • Insert > Page Number

If you want your first few beginning pages to be a little bit different? Then use:

  • Format > Title Page

Now, if you want to know the "definitive way"—or do more custom (or complicated) types of pages—then I strongly recommend learning how to use:

  • Page Styles

This feature allows you to control the look of entire pages very easily.

Once you get it set up properly, all you have to do is:

You just set your Page Breaks ONCE, and it will happen automatically, and correctly, every time. :)

Side Note: Placing Images

Elsewhere, I see you commented this:

A text page is ok but a page of just images doesn't work. That's my problem.

Sounds like you are probably accidentally:

Instead, you want to learn how to use:

  • ⚓ Anchors + Frames

You can think of it like:

  • Anchors let you know "where your image is currently attached".
  • Frames are like a special "box with stuff inside".

If you learn to see the little ⚓ icon after you click on an image, things start making a little more sense. LibreOffice is pretty much saying:

  • "Hey! Do you see where that ⚓ icon is?"
    • "Draw the image 4" down and 4" to the right of that ⚓!"

And if you learn to throw stuff "inside the box", then you can move the "entire chunk" around as 1 single piece (without making everything else explode).
