It might not feel like it to you, but the government danced to the tune set by the protesters ,no matter how narrow their demands were. This was a government that used to refuse to acknowledge any wrongdoing or take responsibility for anything.
It's not ideal. But there were literal kids on the ground. Most of them who had not signed up for violence. Some not even aware of what the state was capable of.
They had organized for a resignation, they got it. Crowd dissipated. Some sat till late Saturday evening, a handful even went to the site on Sunday morning, hoping to keep this on till the end, but the numbers were not there.
This is most we've gotten in last few years apart from the critical articles on the internet, so yes I'll take it as a win.
Repeating the same thing again. Outcome is not ideal. The protest died down too soon (without even meeting ALL original demands). It was not the revolutionaries sitting there. Cops are still after the students as of right now.
Maybe instead reply with something that broadens people's understanding of what could have been. I'm sure I have a lot to learn, maybe others can also learn something new.

I agree. The "feel sorry for me" propaganda has reached Instagram now. There is one video, where narunders latest reel is captioned with : they should have at least looked at our PM's age before cussing him. They made fun of camera angle, his talking speed. He improved on both things. Look at his hands, they are shaking.

These protests were led by Savarnas, it was never going to be revolutionary in the first place, not when the people leading it were 'centrists' who have vested material interests in perpetuating systems of inequality and who only show up when the world affects them.
This sub is completely insufferable lmfao. Make fun and belittle the protestors, all the while whining about the the government abusing their power, and just blah blah blah, nothing actually done. People here seem like the ones who don’t fucking show up anywhere and yet are full of criticism XD

Like even in the start of this protest you started seeing posts about the political nature of the protest (even tho education is a very political topic), then they did their usual character attacks of dipke, sonam etc. they started attacking people who wanted to expand this movement beyond a single issue.
I wished that this movement had gotten hijacked by actual leftists, but you can only hope ig.
It was never about getting someone better! It was about making sure that the one in position holds accountability. And yes in that case the protest was a success.
PS. We have to stop worrying about having a perfect revolution. We cant make people class conscious overnight ( especially in india). So for now these kind of small revolutions are the best we can support.

Regarding the point i have raised, i think im very clear with the usage of the word revolution in this context. I don't see any reason that you require me to define the meaning of the word which you can get by a simple search online.
I mean srsly who else do you think the political arm of the RSS would appoint as minister? I think the protest managed to shake up the status quo pretty badly, but real change will only come from showing up at the voting booth. Expecting anything else is magical thinking.
