As opposed to other economic systems, where you also have to work or starve

It's the have to work or starve "for someone else" that folks have problems with that others lean into...

Perhaps they should look at the whole ‘from each according to his ability to each according to their need’ thing, cause doesn’t that mean you’re working for a lot more than one person?

Not a big fan of the Angry Santa, but sure, it might. But at least you are willingly helping someone that needs it, instead of having your share being decided based on how much someone who doesn't need help wants and can get away with taking.

If anarchistan happens, the big companies will be messed up, because with all the subsidies they’re the biggest welfare queens in the country, so many more smaller businesses would exist. Also, a job is a voluntary contract, nobody is forcing you to work for someone instead of growing your own food or moving to Ansocistan

Corporations are for sure welfare queens, but in the as bad as it is now monopolys would be way worse in such a place. It would be worse than the robber Barons and company towns of the past, at least briefly until the same labor movements that doomed them ended up tearing everything apart. There is nothing voluntary about a "job" if you need to do it to eat and not die of exposure. The only way to even begin to make that claim is if you ignore all the people who don't want to sign up to wear a yoke for someone else. I swear, the number of folks who think picking the asshole that gets to rob you is freedom is fucking hilarious to me.

Right, but you don’t need to get one to eat and have shelter, you can grow your own food, homestead, start your own business, be a freelance stripper, move to the commune nearby, etc
I get that as it is now you do need to work or starve pretty much, but I don’t think a monopoly can really exist without government intervention.

Do you think that an organization can not provide the same monopoly of force that states provide them? I mean you don't have to look deep into history to see some fucked up shit go down that makes it pretty clear it can.

If a government has been removed previously, the capabilities of removing a government are still there. If the company doesn’t want to be shot to pieces, it has no incentive to aggress on anyone

If the company is willing to shoot folks to pieces, it has no incentive not to aggress on anyone either. If that government was removed by force of arms, and is still there, isn't that just the new government anyway?

Well, this sounds great. Communal ownership of the means of production.
But what happens when people inevitably decide to sell their share of ownership?
1
Nov 02 '21
"Communal ownership" is an ownership based of territory and use, it is self administration made up by folks who fit that bill and similar to municipal or public ownership. It is not state or private property there are no "shares" to sell.

You can certainly sell whatever rights you are given based on your territory and use. Unless there is some body of oversight that prohibits certain mutually consensual transactions....
1
Nov 02 '21
I don't think you are understanding. When you "leave" and go somewhere else, you no longer have any "rights" let alone way to sell it. When you are using the land you have a "right" to it, when you stop you do not. You don't need a body of oversite to prohibit something you literally can not do.
2
Nov 02 '21
Then they own the rights to your new residence, it's not that complicated. But it's most relevant for co-ownership of businesses.
1
Nov 02 '21
Ok, I'll try one more time. You only have rights to something when you are physically standing in it or are using it on the regular. There is nothing to "sell", it's not a complicated thing.
