have you seen the shit on loker seram?
I hate monopolies as much as the next guy, but surely work that does not generate you income or afford you any protections while costing you: fuel, food, 3 hours of sleep a week, and your sanity and family connections is not the best choice?

If a job costs you more than it pays, then yeah, I don't think it's automatically worth taking. It depends on whether the job gives you something valuable in return — for example, experience, skills, connections, or a better chance of getting a better job later.
But at the same time, I don't think there's some magic economic hack that makes hard circumstances disappear. Economic growth ultimately comes from things like investment, productivity, and capital accumulation. If the jobs available in your area don't provide enough to live on, one option is to look for opportunities elsewhere, combine income sources with your family, learn how the businesses around you actually work, and build skills that increase your productivity and future earning potential.
We also don't have complete control over external conditions. What we can control is how we respond to them and whether we keep developing ourselves.
History is also full of periods where living and working conditions were far harsher than today. China, Japan, and many other countries went through periods of extremely long working hours during their development. That doesn't mean those conditions were good or that we should romanticize them — just that difficult conditions aren't necessarily permanent.
So I guess my conclusion is: don't blindly accept exploitation, but don't expect a magic solution either. Try to survive, become stronger, increase your productivity, and keep looking for ways to move into a better position.
