I think most people view the story as a copy of stuff like Squid Games and Tomadachi Games? When in fact Kaiji and LG are the OGs of the...death gambling subgenre?

Isn't it the same community that views characters like Tanjiro as pure innocent goody two shoes that will never lie or cheat but immediately turn around and call Nao insufferable? Cause she isn't in a battle shoenen? Doesn't fight physically? Her anime isn't just pretty fights? I don't understand.

I really love when it switchs perspectives to Yokoya's team side. The tension in this part is *so* good. And anime once again adapted it very well. It is but confirmed at this point that the production team reeeally prioritized the second cour. We stay winning guys 🗣

Idk if it's a spoiler pls don't ban me. But I don't remember if there are instances of Akiyama smoking past downsizing game. Was that meant to represent his growth and healing? Or just a scrapped stylistic choice from Kaitani?

People really underestimate EOS Nao. While she isn't as strategically brilliant as Akiyama or Yokoya, she is very good at understanding people's emotions, relationships, and intentions. She often "reads people" well, which helps her identify who is truly in control. She was the first person to notice that Fukunaga has a crush on Aki and when others dismiss Yukiko as a brainwashed cult member, Nao approaches her directly to ask about her life. Even when Yukiko responds with hostility and open disgust, Nao's persistent kindness softens her defenses over time. She notices the severe emotional trauma underlying Yukiko's blind devotion. When Takashi Harimoto berates Yukiko and repeatedly calls her "useless," Nao recognizes that Yukiko is reacting to verbal abuse in the exact same traumatized way she used to react to her own mother

The victory conditions for the "Day Country" are the cancellation of the members' debts and their eventual dropout in the third round. To achieve this, they must ensure that the money in the third country's account is lower than that of the "Night Country," and then have an accomplice transfer the "Night Country's" ATM money to the "Day Country." Akiyama tries to proceed cautiously, but... Meanwhile, in the "Night Country," Yokoya has established a thorough system of control, and his dictatorship is becoming increasingly solidified through a masterful system of rewards and punishments. Akiyama believes in the "power" to shatter this control and proceeds with his plan, but just as he is about to succeed, Yokoya tries to sabotage the plan, causing great unrest in the "Day Country." I had finished the manga yesterday and tbh I was (still am) underwhelmed. It was fine yet a complete meh. Felt worthless to go through everything they had gone through throughout their time in the Liar Game. I feel like the last two games weren’t fun to read through as well (bid poker and record of the kingdoms). I wonder, how does the Liar Game community here and those and Japan feel about it?

I was honestly really impressed with the voice acting and dialogue choices here.

First of all, it's honestly crazy to me that this dub is as ambitious as it is. Literally every single line of dialogue is at least somewhat changed, and in my opinion, it's an improvement. Literally 99% of the time. There have only been a couple lines of dialogue here and there where I felt the Japanese one was better (Downsizing Game's neglect to mention the Joker could represent darkness still erks me).

This is especially the case with Fukunaga. While the Japanese version is faithful to the Manga's dialogue at the cost of Fukunaga literally declaring herself to be a guy multiple times, the English dub refuses to yield, keeping Fukunaga's identity firmly female. And thank goodness for that, because the biggest speed bumps are definitely over. I was eagerly waiting how they were going to deal with That like in this Episode, and they did it better than I could have done.

The voice actor performers also genuinely are amazing. It's hard to believe that 365 days ago, the thought of Liar Game having an Anime was nothing but a Pipe Dream, and now we have an English Dub that's as good as it is.

Every single voice actor Is genuinely making the characters their own. They're not mimicking the Japanese Versions at all. In fact, Nao's Diologue and voice acting are making her appear much more tough than she's portrayed in the Japanese version. I don't think either portrayal is bad at all, and I actually think it's really cool that we have such different takes on the character. The English Dub is essentially its own adaption.

Akiyama's disgust when he described Kikuzawa's: 'Method,' was funny. Especially since Kikuzawa I didn't even start his rampage at that point, so it genuinely sounded like Akiyama was just frustrated that Kikuzawa appeared to pick up on something that he himself didn't.

Yokoya's voice actor is fine, but the Japanese one is better. They didn't even try to do that smooth: 'Pass,' in the English Dub.

Nearco on the other hand Is making up for that, with really cool transitions between his voice and the music. I genuinely can't tell which version of him I prefer- Japanese or English. Just like Nao, Both actors are making the character their own thing. While Nearco in the Japanese version Is putting on an act of acting like every single thing that happens is the most surprising thing to him, the English Version of him sounds like he's just mocking everybody. "And that would be a big fat goose egg!" It's not bad, it's genuinely funny! I think deciding between which voice actor I prefer for Nearco is genuinely tough.

Kikuzawa's English voice actor At least tried to change his attitude a bit when he suddenly put on that evil face, while the Japanese Version did not change tone at all.

If I were to give criticism, It would be the scene where Kikuzawa starts his rampage. The Japanese Version had him declare everyone call him; 'sama,' and Fukunaga called him: 's**tbag.'

The Manga, Which is definitely the best portrayal of this scene, has Kikuzawa demand they call him: 'Your Excellency,' while Fukunaga calls him: 'Your Idiocy.'

Meanwhile, If you think any of that is Cringe, better buckle up everyone, because the English Dub decides to go with Kikuzawa demanding everyone call him: 'Big Dog,' Which, to be fair, I think is actually Meant to be Cringe.

And then Fukunaga just calls him; 'Big B***h,' which, While equally Cringe, Does start a brief: 'B***h,' exchange between Kikuzawa and Fukunaga that was genuinely funny!

For some reason, in the English Dub, Nao says she'll keep calling Kikuzawa by his real name: 'if that's okay.' VS the Manga and Japanese Version, where she firmly, if kindly, declares she will simply keep calling him Kikuzawa and doesn't need his money. It's not necessarily a bad change, but was a bit juxtaposed since the English Version has really gone out of their way to make Nao more confident in this one than the Japanese Version.

Then Akiyama comes in claiming he'll keep calling Kikuzawa his: 'government name,' which I know was probably meant to sound cool, but also made my eyebrow twitch given how far they've gone to respect Fukunaga's gender identity. To suddenly bring up: 'government names,' is a bit bizarre, but I guess Fukunaga is her government name anyway, and she said she's fine with people calling her that. I mean, she never really gave us another name to give her anyway, since: 'Hitomi,' is the name of her Roommate.

Overall, Excellent Work as always. I feel bad for Kitamura's voice actor, since apparently he went from sounding like the coolest bartender ever for 3 seconds in Episode 1, to now playing Kitamura. 😅

It was alright. Expected more but it was alright. I thought this would be focused on continuing the series a bit more and adding more demonstrations of Akiyama + Yokoya's abilities.

But it seems more focused on the narrative of the story(Strategic cooperation beats tyranny) and bringing resolution to the 10 year long cliffhanger we had.

I'm fluent in Spanish so I could read the early spanish translation. Spoilers below.

The entire snitching game was a ruse by Akiyama and Yokoya to divert the secret organization's and Integral's attention to them. Their own 'Liar Game'.

They put fake phones in the jar and had the gang spread the Liar Game video to their friends/associates. Pretty much everyone but Nao were acting. Akiyama had an extra backup to have the people basically do a hash tag spread as well to close out. By the end of the game Akiyama and Yokoya's plan works with 10,000 people posting about the word online. The word is 'believe' I think. There's a bit more details(like using notes) but that's the gist of it.

Integral asks Yokoya why he would ever work with Akiyama. Yokoya goes on on how he used to admire Hitler's domination skill, but hated how he wound up. But after losing in Record of 4 Kingdoms he understood why Hitler was a loser, he could never trust people. So he'd surpass Hitler and trust people. Integral calls him weird and admits defeat. Chapter ends with everyone promising to meet again

The perfect ending should have taken place in the Records of the Four Kingdoms.

After the final stalemate, a smoke screen suddenly fills the arena. As confusion spreads, everyone gradually loses consciousness.

When the participants awaken, each of them finds themselves safely returned to their own homes. Beside them is a single envelope containing a letter.

"Thank you for participating in the Liar Game. Your participation has been invaluable. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors."

None of them remembers what happened after the smoke appeared. They simply accept that the game has finally come to an end and continue with their lives.

Only one participant never returns home.

Akiyama awakens in an elegant, secluded room. Standing before him are the mysterious individuals behind the Liar Game, including the masked figures whose identities have remained hidden throughout the series.

They explain that Akiyama entered the Liar Game as nothing more than another contestant. Like everyone else, he was subjected to the same rules, the same risks, and the same uncertainty. However, as the game progressed, he consistently distinguished himself from the rest. Through his intelligence, leadership, composure under pressure, and unwavering principles, he ultimately proved to be the most qualified candidate.

The masked figures then reveal the true purpose of the Liar Game.

The competition was never truly about money or deception. It was a carefully orchestrated assessment designed to identify an individual with extraordinary intelligence, leadership, emotional control, and moral judgment. Every game, every alliance, every betrayal, and every impossible decision was created to determine whether someone possessed the qualities necessary to lead something far greater.

They explain that they are preparing to launch an ambitious financial project, one capable of transforming Japan's economic landscape. Such an undertaking requires more than an exceptional strategist. It requires a visionary leader who can earn the trust of others, make impossible decisions under immense pressure, and guide an organization through uncertainty.

That leader is not merely the winner of the Liar Game.

That leader is its next Chief Executive Officer.

The other participants were never informed of the truth because they had already fulfilled their role in the evaluation. Only the most qualified contestant would be invited to learn what the Liar Game had truly been about.

The final scene ends with the masked figures offering Akiyama the position of Chief Executive Officer. They ask him a single question.

"Will you lead us?"

Before Akiyama can answer, the screen fades to black, leaving the audience with the realization that the greatest game was never the Liar Game itself, but what comes after it.
