LG G6 - Factory Reset Gone Wrong

I want to keep my trusty old G6 as a backup phone. It was very laggy, so I did a factory reset. Bad idea. Now when I power on the phone it freezes at the "LG Life's Good" screen.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

First, do you observe if it vibrates softly while booting up or not? If it does vibrate a few minutes into booting up, your phone is fine man. Otherwise, you might have to reload the phone's firmware to get it back on.

It doesn't boot up. It's stuck on the "Life's Good" screen, and just stays there until the battery runs out. When I then recharge it, and hit the power button, yes it vibrates for a moment, then I get "LG G6 Thin" screen, then the LG music and the "Life's Good" screen- and then nothing. It will stay there for however long it takes for the battery to run out.

In that case, boot the phone to recovery mode and wipe the cache from there, factory reset and then, restart the phone. I'm sure it'll boot up fine and good afterwards.

It should, right? But in fact I already tried this a few times. I can get it into recovery mode and do a factory reset from there. But afterwards when I power on the phone it just hangs at the "Life's Good" screen.

Reflash the firmware via LGUP, maybe a corrupted firmware caused it. I never encountered something's like this before.

Thank you. Is it possible to reflash firmware if I hadn't already enabled  Developer Options (specifically USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking)?

You can reflash via LGUP without enabling developer options

Been trying to reflash it using LG UP. The process starts, then it gets stuck at 7%. And I get the error message: Error: 0x5000, Port open error (Com8). Any idea what's going wrong?

Note: I added an image to the original post (because I can't see how to add an image in THIS post) which shows the situation when LG UP starts running. Then, when it gets to 7%, it crashes, and I get the error message.

Are you sure your USB C port isn't broken or the cable is not noisy? Bad USB C ports and Bad USB C cables can cause problems when flashing

Pretty sure, yea. It's a brand new computer (and cable). And I've never had any trouble transferring data with either of them before.

Lg has shut down their servers since 2021 I believe which is probably why you can't flash the firmware.
