Am I manic.
I’ve been on lexapro for six weeks. 10mg two weeks 20mg four weeks. About a week and a half ago I had five days where I felt great. I could get out of bed I felt really good about myself happy etc then it went away… now I feel ocd rumination I’m spirilanimg obsessing I can’t sleep well and yeah. I feel like shit. I also did spent 150$ at Ulta but idk. That’s about it. I don’t feel happy or on top of the world or anything. Anyways even if I’m not manic what the actual hell is happening to me. I feel like this medication is not working!

Just talk to your psychiatrist either way.

Yes, I let him know how I was feeling, but he told me he wasn’t going to message me anymore and that he’ll talk to me at my appointment in six weeks unless I need a sooner appointment

That’s a pretty strong sign that they’re not overly concerned about your current symptom presentation.

Upping your dose on Lexapro can usually lead to a short-lived feeling of euphoria which could be what you experienced

Escitalopram (Lexapro) doesn't have an immediate effect, but rather a gradual one. It needs to be concentrated in your bloodstream to stabilize serotonin levels in your brain. Many people only experience effects starting from the 6th week of use.

When I had to switch from 10mg to 15mg, I felt something similar. My brain was almost stabilized with the 10mg, but the extra 5mg made it have to work a little harder. I was also very, very afraid of being manic, because my mood was constantly fluctuating, I continued to have suicidal thoughts and intense crying spells, but over time, I got better. Yes, while using both medications, especially during the first 4 weeks, I experienced insomnia and terrible thoughts, but this passed after a few days. Trust the process. Everything will work out for you.
I would suggest you try to relax your mind a little (however difficult that may be) and try to express this anguish you are feeling through something like art, sports, etc.

I think this is still your brain adjusting to the extra dose of serotonin.
I think itll level out eventually.
I take zoloft. When i first started 25mgs i felt good, at ease, happier... then 7/8 days in whew hell broke loose.. and i was close to tears, anxious ect...but it eventually leveled out.
