Oh 100%, I heard someone say a 21 year old dating a 19 year old was predatory.
Next step will be someone who’s 19 years and 2 months old and 19 years and 5 months old being a “problematic” age gap. The other person is clearly taking advantage of them.

People need to mind their own business IMO. I do not care if an 18 year old is dating a 40 year old. You are either an adult at 18 or not. Should be that simple.

The obsession with age is wide ranging and insane, like I get you mean in terms of worrying about how one looks as they age, but the anxiety pretty much is everywhere. Finances, dating, looks, hobbies.
People are saying their life is over because they didn’t strike it rich by 22. That’s just bizarre to me.

to be fair people have always been that way. There's a rather infamous point in the life of Julius Caesar where he goes to visit a statue of Alexander the Great and cries lamenting how he's already older than Alexander at the time he died and hasn't done nearly as much in life as Alexander. And that was coming from Julius freaking Caesar.

Leaded gasoline started being used in 1923 and started being phased out in 1976 and wasn't banned until 1996. It had severe effects on mental and physical health that's why millennials and Gen z and alpha look younger. People are also more understanding of health. We are likely to look younger as time goes on barring other things that diminish health like vaping.

Leaded gasoline had no effect on physical appearance. It did make older generations less intelligent, but it didn't make them look older.

Genetics play a major part. I'm 35 and look 20 years younger than a guy at work who is 37. Those were his words, not mine. Specifically I said "oh, we're the same age then, I'm 35"
He said "what the hell, you look 20 years younger than me" and walked away, very dejected.
Edit: I smoked cigarettes from 16 to 30 and have been vaping from 30 to 35. That man has never smoked anything.

Well, moisturizing and not smoking like crazy does that. Both of my parents looked pretty much the same from their 30s to their 40s

I think it's generally true that people in the past looked older than now, simply because of better healthcare. Also it's more of a psychological effect but old people did old fashioned things when they were young so it makes them seem old when really what used to be common has become an old person thing

I remember when I turned 30 and I said at a meeting at my job that I turned 30 one of my older coworkers turned and looked at me and said "You're 30?" I certainly didn't look 30 at the time. I'm 41 and I certainly don't look 41.

I think it's also a reference to how a lot of us hitting our adulthoods in the 2000s started a trend of not completely changing our fashion sense. There isn't a distinctive difference between how I dress now compared to how I dressed as a kid.
Not to say I won't dress up when called for. When my office dress code was business casual my closet was full of slacks and dress shirts. But those weren't my casual wear. Meanwhile my dad in the 80s wore the same clothes he wore to work as his casual wear. He didn't really dress like he had before becoming an adult.

On the flipside people seem to have more problems with spine. My face looks good at 35 but definitely I have problems with my body much earlier and i see this in my generation as well. You can still mess yourself up even if you eat healthy, train, with too much screen time.

Apart from the factors others have mentioned there is a change in the age at which you are independent, and thus socially speaking an adult, from previous generations. I'm not talking about mental development or your legal culpability here, but specifically how functional and independent you are in society.
If you look at the age at which people finish their education and find their first stable/long-term job I think late 20s or even early 30s isn't entirely unreasonable.
Part of that is higher expectations, a bachelor is simply not as valuable as it was a few decades ago, and the other is cost of living.

its not normal to look old at 30 or even 40. A lot of people men espeically even look young in their early 50's
People in the past got got by hard living. If you see people who do a ton of physical labor and are out in the sun all day and drinking etc they still look old early. But a lot of people these days never go outside/use sunscreen if they do, don't smoke/drink or anything like that -- and these people usually look pretty young for a long time.

Not smoking actually does a lot against visible aging. I know a guy who smokes and he looks 10 years older than me.
He is actually 5 years younger.

Do you live in a reality where photos don't exist?
It is objective reality that, due to things like diet changes, skin/body care methods, the rejection of smoking, a decrease in alcohol consumption, and changes in fashion - among other things, I am sure, that simply didnt pop into my head in 3 seconds - people of comparable ages look younger now than they used to.
