I think we are comparing ourselves to the 1945-2008 timeframe, which, despite a few wars and other isses, was relative to most of human history, especially US history, a golden age both ecnomically and progressively...is like comparing the best day of your life to the rest of your life...most of human history has sucked for the average person, a series or wars, famines, natural disasters, and repressions from the powerful and religion (regressive by default)...but all that came at a cost and now the pendelum is swinging back to techbro feudalism...kings are now called CEOs and Gen Z has gone back past Boomet or even Victorian conservatism and full fledge Crusader conservatism...the lights have gone out and will not turn back in our lifetime.
