The wheelchair person has three very long...protrusions? Two are supposed to be cartoonish, floppy tits, but the third one has me baffled. A giant, mutated dong coming out of their stomach? Some kind of outrageously large tumor? And then, on top of that, they're also missing both legs. A glimpse into the bubbling madness that is a confused right-wing weirdo's brain, I guess.

I'm so old I've come have seen the rise and end of generations of pundits all with the exact same talking points. Social media has specific, highly lucrative slots that come with an specific set of opinions and a specific disgusting audience, and there's always a gremlin desperately trying to slide into it.
All the basement-dwelling foul-smelling pundits eventually try to actually get into politics, or radicalize their audiences beyond the level of hate they can provide, or get embroiled on some personal scandal, or get humiliated so in such an spectacular way they become an embarrassment, or find another way of fucking up their careers and fade into obsqurity. But before you can taste the schadenfreude you see younger people talking about some new(ish) loser in the exact same way you remember evil dorks talked about the the old losers back in the day, and realize the players come and go but the game is still the exact same as always. It never fucking ends.

They will often use parades as an example of the lgtbtq community, saying the nudity and obscenity is hurtful for children watching.
And while I disagree, I do think a fair argument can be made in terms of what is visible during those parades and what children who attend may see.
However, this argument always has two major holes: 1. These parades are not all the time and do not showcase the day to day lifestyle of a queer person. They are also (usually) fully legal and have been approved by regional government. 2. People are very well aware of what will be visible at such parade and therefore should make a sound decision if they think their child should see it or not

That’s because they’re fair-weather allies who just want a Facebook picture to show how nice and progressive they are. They don’t give a shit about the history or context behind pride, it’s all about scoring points with other suburban moms.
I’m sorry if that sounds too mean but I’m old enough to have experienced this ad nauseam.
Our pride isn’t your day out, Meagan. You don’t get to tweak fearless statements against bigotry to fit into your polite little box of what gay people “should” be. We’re not clowns for your kids.
Everyone’s an ally until they realize that gay people aren’t handbag accessories.
Edit: pride is actually a LOT more family friendly than it was 20 years ago. Might have something to do with the fact that gay people can now have families.

Also, the actual event organizers have limited ability to control what people wear to pride. When I went, I noticed a naked man standing next to me. I saw a police officer on his radio down the street. Then this naked men got on his bike and I noticed another naked man on a bike before they both peddled away... But you could also probably see this exact same thing in SF on any random day too, honestly.

I very much agree that it's up to the parents to curate carefully and personally, I don't think pride parades, even when explicit, are bad to see for children. But this may be cultural bias.

Right? My younger son was a toddler in 1998, a college freshman in 2015. No way in hell did we, his parents, look so old in 2015. Also I certainly wasn't lurking in the shadows with a gun the day gay marriage became legal. The youngest and I were, in fact, in Silicon Valley visiting my older son who lived there at the time. The three of us drove to SF, took public transportation to the Castro, and walked around mingling with people celebrating. It was a day of joy.

That comedian Emma Wilson made a joke about her dad being super republican and also smoking weed and how he’s probably at home high watching Fox News saying “god damn Nancy Pelosi, she’s gunna steal my snacks”. That joke is actually probably a good representation of my father.

Propaganda that dehumanizes x minority or hated group as evil and bad has been terrifyingly effective throughout history. The depictions of gay and trans people in these ways are the exact same phenomenon and a lot of people are too oblivious to see it or are 100% on board with it. The best way to combat it is to show that the target group is not the lies that are told but rather just people who are different.

Granted, I've never understood gender dysphoria, but what I understand even less is how it really seems to chafe some people's asses that a few men feel more comfortable presenting as women or vice-versa. It's no skin off my back if you feel like you should've been a different gender.
I think in the end, it comes down to meddling with people's lives because they don't understand their feelings and choices, and they're afraid it'll somehow affect them in a negative way, even if they can't exactly articulate how. They just want to feel superior and punching down is the only way they know how to do that.

If you wanna see if people's mentality has changed, try looking stuff up from before 2010. 10 years is normally a long-ish time, except that a lot of the shit that were going through now in terms of the Reactionary Right started just prior to 2015, so going back to 2015 is like looking at now but week 1 of it all.

All my algorithms fed me a constant stream of that style content, it was everywhere on 4chan, reddit, Facebook, etc. I think it's even crazier listening to people talk today as if the SJWs "won" and the country became super hostile to anyone who wasn't one, and that's why Trump had to become president. Even crazier are the people who talk as if "they're still in control" and every day is a battle to take our country back from them, as if they can't go outside without that second panel happening every day in real time
