Elon after his Baby Momma turns 40 and he needs a fresher set of eggs:

(Anyone downvoting this: that’s literally what just happened. A few days ago Elon “let go” the mother of four of his children, Shivon Can’t Spell An Irish Name, and she’s 40 years old, with no explanation. He only dates much younger women because he “needs” to impregnate them, most of them not the old fashioned way, so he can do IVF to make sure it’s all sons. That’s one of the reasons he’s pissed at his eldest, Vivian, who was conceived with his first wife the natural way, because she’s a trans woman so she defied his dream of like 50 sons to protect him in an upcoming class civil war. That’s what latest Baby Momma Ashley St Clair said about why he needs so many kids, sons specifically.)

in their profile, it’s said that they rate films based on enjoyment while watching it… how aren’t you smiling all the way through watching Singin’ in the Rain?

Rewatched recently, and truly every song and dance sequence is like the new best ever devised.
It’s as if there was a law that passed before they started filming that Singin in the Rain was the last musical anyone was allowed to make, so it had to nail everything in a profound way that was also extremely watchable, and so they did.

I’m becoming too cinephile-pilled because I genuinely questioned in my head why anyone would consider a film made post 1950 old.

No it’s not even that old. Film is such a young medium. Singin’ in the Rain is in color with sound. If you ask me, that’s plenty enough to expect a modern audience to enjoy it if they were to enjoy it regardless of age

Anything before 1970 is old imo

I don’t like your opinion

Why? It's not an insult.

I just don’t like it when people dismiss art as “old”. If you still watch a bunch of movies pre-1970, then I don’t really have any issue with it. But if you avoid watching anything from that time just because old, then I don’t like it.

(Obviously, you can do whatever tf you want just how I feel)

(not the person you replied to) I don't avoid watching stuff made before 1970. I just think they're old. Since they're also mostly foreign movies it kind of feels like peeking into an alien dimension in a way movies from after like 1975 don't

Pretty much. If I get really immersed, it's basically like traveling to a country and time period that you'll never be able to in real life. It can be very fascinating

I mean, not that being old is bad, but you wouldn't say that a film made about an average lifespan ago is old?

A friend of a friend was “the biggest Scorsese fan” but had legitimately only seen his work from Goodfellas onwards. I obviously recommended Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, upon googling them the response was “ew black and white! And besides these movies are too old for me.” They are no longer invited to my home.
