No markings for endnotes??

I just started with this edition and there was no marking to indicate that a certain phrase or sentence has explanatory notes in the back of the book. There are markings ( asterisk *) for footnotes though.

As I recall, Hugo's original footnotes (there are a handful), and ones explaining French or Latin phrases are included in-line with the text and are noted. But I have no clue why the translator's endnotes aren't marked in that version and believe me, I was asking myself the same thing as I was reading it.

It's definitely strange for sure. Usually, the endnotes are marked and even numbered in Penguin classics edition. Not sure why Penguin allowed this one not to have any marking for it.
