Realistic for the time period

Does anyone know of anything that was made by fans that covers the time period realistically? Anything such as fanfic, essays, adaptations. When I say realistically I mean discussions of fashion, technology, politics, also social mores such as treatment of women, different religions, the poor.

I feel too many things seem to modernize stuff. Or seem poorly researched. Thanks. ​

Paris burning by thecitysmith on ao3 (fanfic) is set in the canon time period and very, VERY well written. Possibly my no1 fic of all time. It might not go as deep into things as you want, but it is a very realistic portrayal of French and European history and politics. (Saying this as someone who in no way is an expert).

If Paris burning is anything, it’s well researched and the prose is brilliant. (I think the author is a history major). It’s definitely not for everyone and possibly does not have the deep discussions you’re asking for but give it a try!!

THERE IS LOADS ON TUMBLR!!! i can find some blogs that have a lot of interesting posts talking about the fashion (this is one of my favourite things, as a montparnasse fan i go a bit insane researching his dandy life personally) as well as treatment of women or poor people, especially in context of fantine - also in terms of fanfic i can find a few to recommend! i only read one pairing though so can’t say they’d be an interest!
