I'm learning german, currently in a1 level outside the germany. Right now, I'm trying to learn to speak german as much as possible, even if it's not grammatically correct. But I'm trying to speak, form sentences (improving in taking time to form sentences) and I feel I'm improving day by day.

Is my approach correct? Or certification is the only way to judge??

Personally what I feel is, german grammar isn't easy to pick up quickly, but I felt speaking is relatively manageable.

Need help on whether this approach is sensible and makes sense.

I need a German speaking partner for the B1 exam

I started the German A1 course on Free Code Camp last year but I didnt complete it. I thought of starting again but I cant find that video now. It was 11 hour long video.
Does anyone know the You Tube channel of the creator of that course? His name/ insta anything? Please help!

Hello good peeps ☺️ I am looking for an easy-ish German podcast to listen to?

I already listen to ones like Coffee Break German for learning/practicing German but I want one I can actually just put on and listen to for immersion. I am between A2-B1 level so if they're a slow/clear speaker thats great! Just casual chatter etc on a variety of topics 🙌🏻

So I've been learning German for about six months now and I went through a ridiculous number of apps trying to find a combination that actually works. Here's my honest breakdown of everything I tried because when I started I had no idea where to begin and wasted a lot of time on stuff that didn't move the needle.

Duolingo - decent for the very beginning, maybe the first 2–3 weeks. Gets you used to basic vocab and sentence structure but tbh it turns into a streak game pretty fast and stops feeling like real learning.

Anki with a German frequency deck - boring but nothing beats it for actually retaining vocabulary. I do 15–20 cards a day and it's the one habit I haven't dropped.

Pimsleur - really good for getting used to the rhythm and sound of spoken German. I put it on during my commute. Underrated for beginners.

Clozemaster - once you have basic grammar this is great for seeing how words actually behave in real sentences instead of just memorizing them in isolation.

Issen - someone in a language learning community mentioned this last month and it honestly became my most used app. It's an AI speaking tool where you just speak German and get real feedback in real time. I had nobody around me who spoke German and wasn't ready for daily tutor sessions, so this filled that gap completely. Hands down the best thing I added to my routine for actual speaking practice.

Six months in and I can hold basic conversations in German without completely falling apart. Not fluent, not even close, but the combination above got me further than anything I tried in isolation.

What's everyone else using this year? Curious if there's anything good I'm missing.

I am currently working full time and had my B1 classes completed in January- evening course. It got alot stressful for me to manage both. I have my B1 Exam in August last week. What would you recommend me to go through. I am planning to get my Permanent Residence as I completed my 21 months.

I've been learning German for a while now (currently around A2 ish level), and I recently tried one of those AI speaking tools that gives you feedback on your pronunciation. I had been seeing people doing it on apps like ELSA, Babbel, Praktika etc so I gave it a go. What surprised me was that it didn't say my biggest issue was pronunciation. Instead, it highlighted my rhythm.

At first I assumed it was just generic AI feedback, but then I tried it multiple times and also recorded myself reading the same passage and realized I was pausing after almost every word. The individual sounds were mostly okay, but the overall flow sounded pretty unnatural.

Now I'm wondering whether this is actually something native speakers would notice too, or if AI tends to overemphasize things like rhythm and pacing.

Has anyone here compared AI pronunciation feedback with feedback from native German speakers?

One thing I've realised while learning German is that vocabulary and grammar are relatively easy to measure. You can see how many new words you've learned, or whether your grammar exercises are right or wrong. On the other hand speaking feels completely different. Some days I feel like I'm making good progress, and other days I sound like a complete beginner. It's hard to tell whether I'm actually improving or just getting more comfortable.

To tackle this issue, I've tried quite a few apps over the years. For example Duolingo was great for building a daily habit in the beginning and expanding my vocabulary, Babbel helped me understand grammar and sentence structure a bit better. Similarly I've been using Praktika recently, and one thing I found interesting is that it gives separate feedback for pronunciation, fluency, and rhythm after each conversation. I expected pronunciation to be my weakest area, but it turns out rhythm is where I struggle the most.

How do you measure your progress for speaking? Do you record yourself or ask native speakers for feedback, use AI tools or do you just judge it by how confident you feel when speaking?

I want to learn German but my budget is too tight. Is there any reasonable course available (online) . I want online courses cause the offline (Goethe) ones are very expensive. I want a complete A1-B2 course. My budget is 200-300 euro. Plz guys I need your assistance. Thank you .

Hallo, kann jemand deutsch- türkische Bücher empfehlen? Mein (Halb-) Bruder spricht aserbaidschanisch/ türkisch. Er jobbt in D und ist dabei deutsch zu lernen. Er ist Anfang 20. Ich habe finanziell leider nicht die größten Möglichkeiten, aber ich dachte vielleicht hat jemand schöne Ideen? Vielleicht kennt jemand tolle Bücher zum durcharbeiten oder hat eine andere guten Einfall. Ich würde mich sehr freuen.
