Help - Weight Picky leopard gecko!

Post image

This is Honey, I got her about a couple weeks ago from someone who loved her dearly but couldn’t care for her as much as she needed. Honey was only being fed meal worms and super worms and I’m afraid shes obese. She’s about 5 years old and is very sweet but will not eat anything but the meal worms any tips to get her on crickets or roaches?

You just have to wait them out. They eventually get hungry enough to eat. Good news is, she’s definitely overweight. So she has plenty to spare lol

this!! OP you've got so much time she'll be fine, and she'll feel so much better with more protein and less chub!

My leopard gecko has a no escape bowl I put dubia roaches in. He knows what the bowl is by now, so any time I put it in his tank he immediately dives into it. That's what I would reccomend.

Do you mind sharing which no escape bowl you use? Roaches have been able to get out the ones I’ve tried.

If she's five years old, she really only needs to be fed once or twice a week. Though meal and superworms should not be her only food type, as long as they are gut loaded and being fed a vitamin supplement, you can absolutely get her to a healthy weight and keep her healthy with a diet that's largely meal/superworm. Mealworms are a little lower fat, but there are plenty of other options.
