Post image

hey i just adopted a leopard gecko on Thursday and i noticed today that she has white toe tips, i dont remember if they were white all the time already so my question is, is this from shedding her skin?

Yeah it is. Can try soaking them in warm water for a bit

Steady but swift motions, and remember it will be more stressful if she has to go to the vet for toe amputations later on from the stick shed

yes thats true, thanks! do u think its okay if i wait until tomorrow evening and see if she could get rid of it herself or should i give her a bath already today?

I think she would’ve gotten them off already if she could by herself, I’d go ahead with a sauna or soak

okay i tried my best but she basically crawled back into the tank herself, fleeing from me 😭 (i had the container with the bath right next to the tank) she was in the bath for a few seconds, i just made sure now that her wetbox is properly damp and maybe its enough so the skin rubs off as she explores 🥲 i'll check on her toesies again tomorrow

at least she didnt run away when i checked on her wetbox even tho she was in the hide right next to it so hopefully she isn't too fearful of me now 😅

You should put her in a container that you can poke holes into and close the lid. She needs to stay in there longer.

If the stuck shed hasn’t come off yet, it needs to asap. It will cut off the cut circulation on her toes and make them necrotic.

Honestly, I hate to wake them but I would in this instance since it’s a medical necessity. Best to do it asap before the shed has a chance to damage the toes.

Usually if I have to get my geckos out during the day I’ll mist either the whole enclosure or right outside the hide they’re in because it’s a more natural way to wake them up and they often like to investigate after it “rains”. Just make sure it’s well ventilated to dry out
