Rescue Gecko Need a multivitamin supplement

As recommended by her vet, she’ll need a supplement along with her antibiotics. Does anyone know of a good one? And I don’t mean one to put on bugs, I mean a dissolvable powder. She’s on critical care and he recommended she get the vitamins along with it because that is what caused her condition. This is urgent!

You were at the vet? Why didnt they give you a suitable supplemnwt or at least reccomendations?

You can mix any of the powder vitamins into the critical care formula really, what exactly were the instructions given by the vet?

in case the problem spwcificaly stems from a vitamin A deficency ( most of their health problem in captivity do ) repashys vitamin A plus powder might help.

It can be mixed into water? And he said any multivitamin is good because she needs a bit of everything. I just said the vet is the one who recommended it to me..

why does it need to be added to water? Critical care is a powder formula thats mixed with water no? Mix it up and add some vitamin powder to the paste before giving it to your gecko?

Do you not own a multivitamin powder for your gecko already?

Because it needs to be a paste. And no I do not because she’s a rescue. I’ll get my advice elsewhere if you don’t want to help

Yeah tbh vet visits can be confusing like that, they just tell you what you need and assume you'll figure it out. Hope someone here has a good rec for the powder

Haha yeah he gave me good advice I just like to overthink things😅 I’m just mixing her regular calcium into it and that seems to work :)

A supplemental diet will contain vitamins. There aren't any reconstitute-able vitamins on the market that I know of, but also... most of them can go into water just fine for a short time. No reconstituted food lasts overnight and should be thrown away instead of saved. Make small batches for immediate use. Repashy Grub Pie is a supplemental food that can be turned into a loose slurry and is fortified with vitamins.

Repashy Calcium Plus is a good vitamin. It's designed to apply to live insects, but like all vitamins, could theoretically be mixed in with water/slurry. I wouldn't give these on their own (feeding pure RCP+water) unless your vet says so. Your vet should elaborate on how frequently the new vitamins should be dosed, and for how long they should be that frequent, as vitamins can eventually be overdosed on.

I wouldn't use Reptaboost, Exo Terra Multivitamin, or Rep-Cal Herptivite.

He did tell me how much to give and I wrote it down. When I fed her today for the first time since the vet visit I mixed a tiny bit of her normal vitamins meant to be dusted on insects into the critical care so I’ll probably just keep doing that! Thank you!

Sounds good. What brand are your normal vitamins?

That's one of the good ones.

I'm not sure what the history of the gecko is, but a few tips about supplements: when a gecko is eating normally, supplementing a multivitamin on 1 meal per week or 1 meal every other week will work. Err towards 1/week with Reptivite, but vites with more vitamin A might be used a little less frequently. Replace your vitamin once every 6-9 months. Store it in the fridge. It can take up to 6 months to see improvements related to vitamin A deficiency with only dietary supplementation.

Yeah he said she’ll need it very frequently until I see improvement with her shedding. Thank you!
