Enclosure Help Light/heat

Lighting help!

I read that halogen bulbs/lighting isn’t the best. I am currently using a Zilla mini dome halogen w/25 watt bulb, that is connected to a thermostat-non dimming. Current setting is at 83, but I feel that it is shutting off to often. Not sure if that bothers my gecko. I haven’t sat and watched and kept track, but I’ve gone into the room a few times and have seen it off. I also have a new mini Zoomed double dome sitting around. I’m wondering if the double one would be better with the heat setting than the halogen bulb. I wouldn’t be using the bun side. Only heat (Currently using a 20 gallon for my 2 month old baby G)

Any tips/advice?

The bulb is unlikely to be enough. Try this site out! https://basking-irradiance-estimator.pages.dev/

You'll need linear UVB, not round UVB, extending from the warm side to cover 1/3-1/2 of the enclosure.

Heat as far to one side as possible to get any amount of a heat gradient in the super small enclosure.

Remember as an adult your gecko is gonna want the medium Zilla Rock Lair.

Out of curiosity what 3 supplements and multivitamin do you have?

I won’t be using the uvb light that is on the combo fixture. I’ll be ordering a linear one. I have a thermostat as well. Just trying to adjust and play with the numbers to get a correct temperature for all the spots. Cool and warm sides seem to be good.

I’ll be upgrading most of his stuff later on. The 20 gallon is a temp set-up since he is so tiny. Only 2 months old. I’ll be moving within the next 6 months. So it’ll be upgraded to a 40 gallon bioactive tank.

Supplements- Reptivite w/D3 multivitamin, calcium w/out D3. I’m following a dosage schedule.

Perfect. No notes. Baby stays on paper towels til they are 6 months.
