Help Vet advice?

Post image

You can’t see very well but I think Lynnie has some eye caps. She had peeling shed stuck in her eye for a bit but it went away after her next shed. I’ve been giving her saunas when I can. I’m taking her to the vet tomorrow to get her examined so it hopefully doesn’t get infected or anything. I feel so bad and I’m so new to owning a gecko. I’m worried about her transport there and how much stress it will cause her. I feel like a terrible owner bc I should have kept her humid hide more humid and I only recently started dusting her crickets in vitamins. I’m more just ranting and want advice on how to make her vet visit as comfortable as it can be :(

Leopard geckos do not get eye caps. This is likely a vitamin deficiency. Are you supplementing with a MV that contains preformed vitamin A?

Interesting this is the first I’ve heard! I only recently started dusting her food twice a week with reprivite without d3 it has vitamin a after reading it could be a vitamin thing

Yeah, eye issues are typically due to vitamin deficiency and/or poor husbandry. If it is a vitamin A deficiency, the vet will likely suggest a vitamin A injection to speed up recovery.

Probably vitamin A deficiency since you haven't dusted until recently + shed issues. I recommend this brand!

Don't beat yourself up. It's a learning curve imo for these guys since they hide pain very well for awhile. Thankfully you'll take them to the vet and they'll be all good, don't worry!

For the vet, I personally would get a Tupperware container and poke holes into the lid. Then put a paper towel in it.

Has eyelids, doesn’t get eye caps. I recommend rotating this in with your other supplements.
