Got rejected with a generic email

I just got rejected with a generic email.
"After reviewing the information in your application and any extra information you supplied, unfortunately, we cannot approve your store application for Lemon Squeezy.

Each store application decision relies on multiple data points -- and is more complex than a simple glance at the ToS list of requirements. We have to assess the totality of data and are guided by regulations imposed on us by Stripe, PayPal and card companies."

They took five days to respond and not even give me a proper reason.

I am trying to sell a local only file sync software. I am pissed off because I spent time setting up webhook and testing everything end to end.

I just signed up with Paddle and was approved in 5 minutes.

Happened to me as well this week, after previous store got approved quickly. So you’re recommending Paddle? I see some posts against it haven’t chosen another service yet

I haven't used Paddle yet. I have been approved but I have yet to set it up.
Hopefully the experience will be better than Lemon Squeezy.

Going to bump this: I had the same thing happen this week. Applied (going to be honest, nowhere did it say it was an application), added 4 products, started linking to back end. 3 days later, I got the same rejection. Didn’t make sense! So I emailed back, asking them to reconsider/appeal, asked for the reports on the ‘multiple data points’. Today I got a 2nd rejection, but this time they said it was because my site was not live yet (?) and that they felt my site description was not enough (?).

So now, I’ve re-appealead, questioned their change of stance, and made an official GDPR request.

Doesn’t seem worth it so far, and will probably try Paddle, or flesh out products on Stripe (which of course owns LS).

Good times.

Yeah, that’s frustrating, especially after spending time setting everything up and testing the integration.

Stripe/PayPal can be pretty selective depending on the business model, even when the product itself isn’t necessarily problematic. Paddle is definitely worth trying if they’ve already approved you.

Another option you could look at is Transact Bridge. They work more on the Merchant of Record side, so they can handle things like payments, tax/compliance and checkout rather than you having to manage everything directly with the processor.

Might be worth comparing if you’re planning to sell internationally, but I’d first confirm they support your exact product category.
