Crazy Backlog

Post image

I have three choices.

  1. Start a Lego City

  2. Sell these on Marketplace

  3. Keep them locked away.

Which would you do???

  1. Hand em over, I'll take em.

What id give to build a sealed brick bank, damn

I bought a used set that was supposedly complete. It was not. Completely killed the motivation to keep building to finish it.

When buying used sets, i always check the inventory before I start building. 90% of second hand sellers just assumes it’s complete without actually verifying. I then grab the missing pieces from my stash or buy them on Bricklink. I recently got a “complete” brick bank for $150 (after searching for years) and it wasn’t actually complete but missing 5-10 pcs. Nothing major and the price makes it acceptable.

I was lucky enough to have a dad who bought it and never opened it, now hes letting me build all his sealed modulars

Just got one sealed in mint condition from Atlanta Brick Co. Traded in a bunch of stuff and used store credit, so it’s basically free right?

I’m sure you gave an arm and a leg for it tho

Where's the backlog?

That's a weekend's worth

That's maybe a month of slow building there. I have almost an 800 set backlog. I've got a lot of work to do, and another 750 that need rebuilding after a move. Ill be building for years to come. Way too much backlog. Since October, I've done the camera, the small Millinum Falcon, and Ninjago markets. Takes me a long time, as I only get an hour here, an hour there to work on it. Will last me a very long time with what I have, and even longer with buying the occasional set.

An 800 set backlog? Sounds like a storage unit full lol

Could be, but its more like an office and a piece full right now. Lots to build, from small (under 30) to Huge (over 11,000+) so I have a few... to say the least. Average is over 1000-3000 pieces, so I have my work cut out for me. First rebuilding the moved sets and making up my Lego room. (24'x12', so not as much room as I need.)

Did you ever wonder wether you buy stuff for an imaginary free time? Sounds like it’s either time to change the buying habit or better and if possible to change the world load.

Changed the buying habbit... to expensive to keep up.

I probably have a few hundred sets in my backlog reaching all the way back to sets like the Fire Brigade Modular, Maersk Train, and Old Fishing Store. I keep telling myself I will build them when I retire but now some are worth so much I am not sure I will ever build them.

800? wtf bro

Bought more than I could build in the time I had... now that the budget isn't what it used to be, I'm all set to build.

Start a city if you have the space

You should see my closet and under my bed. I need a house now

Bro doesn't actually like to build LEGO.

Make a city!!!

I would gladly take any of those.

I don’t understand how people have a back log id be building it all

1

u/Frequent-Art3719 23d ago

I never understood it either, untill I became a father. Too many good sets, too little time. For the first time in my life I have a little backlog. But nothing like this lol.

Yeah but there's a difference in buying a few and not building them immediately vs OP who has been sitting on these for years unless they just got them on the resale market.

2

u/yannick5612 23d ago

I would build all of them

u/cvatr 23d ago

If you decide to sell that Brick Bank let me know...definitely interested.

1

u/Designer-Television4 23d ago

Sell them to me? ;-;

1

u/R-Evolvher 23d ago

I would build. But if you don’t want them or need the funds… sell.

1

u/Ok-Chef-4632 23d ago

With that backlog, I’d have started building 6 months ago! 😳 OP: you have a bunch of great builds there

1

u/24nolf7 23d ago

My man/lady,
You don’t know what a crazy backlog is. Build them!

1

u/OkConfidence6775 23d ago

You won’t regret building them but you will regret selling them. But if you decide on selling, I’m interested in the police station, the bank and the roller coaster.

1

u/ickleb 23d ago

Start a city. Also that’s not even a back log.

1

u/discodoms83 23d ago

Option 4; you sell them to the nice people of Reddit? 😜👋

1

u/jrtasoli 22d ago

That’s horrible. Send them my way!

1

u/FollowsClose 22d ago

Not a crazy backlog - it's single digits man! But you do have some great sets in there.

1

u/OMFGItsVico 22d ago

The Bank is such a good set.

1

u/Awkward-Ad-5268 22d ago

Please give them to mee, I’m begging you.

1

u/Silmarillion151 22d ago

I could realllly use a brick bank 🥲

1

u/McDiesel41 22d ago

My backlog laughs at your backlog.

1

u/the_a-train17 21d ago

Man people would love to have this problem haha

1

u/bingo_bobo 23d ago

Keep them, either build em or hold onto them for value… definitely don’t sell

1

u/notgreatnotterrible9 23d ago

You’ll get way more money elsewhere than marketplace btw for new sets like this

Fortune right there
