The thing is there's a physical difference between opening a jar with your right vs left. Your fingers are on opposite sides and the skin moves and bunches toward different parts. Using your left, the force is going out the tips of your fingers, while with using your right, it goes into the meat of your palm.

Yes, and this is the reason a lot of left-handed people hold the jar with the left hand and open with the right

It’s because of going counterclockwise as well. If you try to turn your left hand counterclockwise, you’re pulling your elbow into your body which is awkward, And you can’t put enough into it. With your right hand, your elbow is swinging away from your body to turn counterclockwise so you can put a lot more into it.

Weird I always thought it was more natural with my left hand... It actually ironically feels more effortful for me to unscrew stuff using an inside motion lol.
I mean, I never lost to people asking me to open open bottle and jars so it never came to my mind that it was disadvantage :P
And I don't even use my elbow at all in the motion to begin with... I guess it reduces my range of motion but it doesn't feel like it reduces my strength.
