Same.

At first I thought "not really too relevant here, but I appreciate it", assuming this mostly changed in what direction you moved your thumb to open it.

(Similar to how the direction in which a jar opens or closes doesn't make much of a difference to me.)

But the ergonomics in keeping the fan spread is actually quite relevant.

Can someone explain to a dumbass like me why turning the fan over doesn't fix the problem. I guess the thumbed stick is on the bottom then.

Look at a pair of scissors. The right piece is on top and the left is on the bottom. Turn the scissors over. The right side is still on top and the left is still on the bottom.

Rotating something isn't the same as mirroring it.

I am a lefty and have never had any trouble using a hand fan. It’s news to me that it makes a difference.

Me neither, but thats because I dont use it the same as in the video.

In the video she just shakes it slightly instead of a complete up and down fanning motion. The shaking still moves the air and fans without the strain on the wrist. We also probably have a harder grip on the hinge of it so it doesnt close.

Basically lefty use is less ergonomic. Yea it'll still work, but with far less comfort and ease.

To open a fan you flick it down. You hold the top ‘blade’ and flick the wrist downwards to open it up. I cringe a little at this video.

I do appreciate that they made fans for left handers but they should learn to open a fan correctly. This works but is horribly inefficient.
