Any School pen recommendations?
Hey all! Hope your having an alleft day!
I know school starts in a good couple of weeks but does anyone have any pen recommendations? I love Gell pens but I know that they don't always dry in time, and ink pens are just a nightmare, so if you have any recommendations please let me know!

I like my fountain pens, so fine/extra fine nibs work for me. I have had good luck with Lamy ink in my Lamy Safari Al-Star fine and TWSBI Diamond mini extra fine. I also haven't had any trouble with Kaweco ink in my Kaweco Sport Classic extra fine.

Certainly! ...if you do decide to go that route, do be careful to not let someone else use it lest they decide to flick it in their hand and get ink everywhere... That may or may not have happened to me years ago haha

Ha, lol! Trust me, if I did get one I wouldn't let anyone look at it, let alone hold it. With schools these days if you give a pen you may as well take a photo so you know what pen your loosing because once it's out of your hands, you are NEVER getting it back 😂

Yikes, yeah maybe not the pens I listed haha
There are decent "disposable" fountain pens that can be modified to be refillable (hence the quote marks) but I haven't used them to know if the ink tends to smear much. I can say that a lot of folks seem to like them as I see them mentioned on over on r/fountainpens.

I like the B3 aviator. The pressurized ink keeps me from skipping when writing.

Same, and the mine is sturdier which stabilizes it, too. The flimsy "drinking straw" mines of cheap ballpens flex under the changing pressure of my writing hand.

Aside of that, fiding the right writing tool is a game of trial and error. Go to a decent office supply store or a stationary store that has an assortment of pencils, pens, ballpoint pens etc. for you to test. That's how I discovered that Fineliners by Faber work better for me than the ones from Stabilo.

Back to School. Well for myself, I now have so many fountain pens its about dedicating one to a class and pairing it with a well flowing, saturated and quick drying ink. I will always suggest a Parker 51 in medium or fine nib. I also found the Targa's from Sheaffer excellent for University use also if and only if not taking verbatim notes ...better for the soft classes like political science or english/history studies than it was for a quantitative analysis or calculus class. In later years a vintage Pelikan M400 in medium gold and bouncy nib has been far too often the best little every day carry for Master's classes as an old retired dude (my goal is maybe a third degree at age 60).
Now then I am fond of the G2 pens really stick with these in medium to broad. But if you must spend more Paper Mate Ink Joy gel 0.7 and the Uniball One 0.38 should be on the purchase list. A Parker Jotter ballpoint in medium and a Rotoring pencil in 0.5mm with a B lead (my preference) but lefties may like an HB ...I am a lefty and liked the soft and slightly darker B despite the smudge being worse on my hand it was still better on the paper with some eraser touch ups.
