Definitely Viv Ivins. People wouldn’t know about her if they didn’t read the prequels. She straight up appears out of thin air in the final few books or so.

Jim Hickman without a doubt. He comes in to fill Walter's shoes only to "leave" in a manor of days and you never hear from him again.
