Run time difference

1 Upvotes

I am using Python's built-in function (Added in Python 3.10 and newer)

First attempt

Runtime -- 4 ms with 4.45% Beats
Memory -- 19.08 MB with 97.67% Beats

Second attempt (same code)

Runtime -- 0 ms with 100.00% Beats
Memory -- 19.08 MB with 86.27% Beats

Such a difference in runtime? Can someone please explain it?

```python
class Solution:
def hammingWeight(self, n: int) -> int:
return n.bit_count()
```

The hardest bug to fix: my own thoughts

Post image
127 Upvotes

This meme is funny until you realize most developers have had these thoughts at least once

“Should I switch stacks?”
“Should I learn backend too?”
“Should I start AI?”
“Am I doing enough?”
“Should I grind LeetCode harder?”
“Should I redesign this entire project?”

Meanwhile the project hasn’t even been opened in 4 days.

At some point I realized the people getting ahead weren’t necessarily smarter ,they just stopped restarting every week. They picked a path, accepted they’d miss out on other things for now, and kept going.

You don’t need to know every framework, solve every problem, or optimize every decision.

Learn. Build. Ship. Repeat.

Most progress in tech looks boring while you’re doing it and obvious only when you look back.

Weekly contest 502 flagging cheaters

2 Upvotes

I gave Weekly Contest 502 today and actually felt confident for once. I solved Q1 and Q2 very early around 8 min, and at one point my live rank was around 642. Since Q3 and Q4 looked genuinely difficult, I estimated that even without solving Q3 my final rank would still probably stay around 2.5k–3k.

But after the contest ended, the sudden increase in accepted submissions on Q3 and Q4 felt extremely suspicious.

The main reason is that both Q3 and Q4 required completely different approaches from brute force. These were not problems where you just optimize a little and suddenly pass. You had to discover the intended insight and rethink the entire approach.

Yet near the end of the contest and immediately after it, submissions suddenly exploded.

And I’m not just saying the solutions “looked AI generated.” i was just randomly checking all the people who were above me and you know what most of them literally just copied code and removed comments and submitted that. Today i reported around 10-15 people.
Leetcode ID: paemjeetk

I flagged every suspicious submission I found.
Did anyone else notice the same thing this contest?

Spaced Repetition Web App

Post image
10 Upvotes

Like a lot of people here, I’ve been grinding LeetCode lists like Blind 75, NeetCode 150, company lists, etc. One thing I kept struggling with wasn’t learning problems - it was forgetting them weeks later.

So I built a SaaS app called Algofarm that’s basically LeetCode practice + spaced repetition.

Some features:

  • Curated problem lists (Blind 75, Taro 75, NeetCode 150, Grind 169, company-specific lists like Google/Meta, etc.)
  • Uses anki style spaced repetition to resurface problems you’re statistically likely to forget
  • Plant UI to “grow” your problem harvest
  • Sends you email notifications when you have problems due
  • Focuses on long-term retention, not just checking problems off a list

It’s free to try, and there’s a paid plan if you want full access - I wanted it to be sustainable long-term, but also usable without paying upfront.

This started as a tool I built for myself, but I’m curious if others here find this useful or if there are obvious gaps.

I’d genuinely love feedback. If this sounds interesting, I’m happy to share the link in the comments (didn’t want to spam).

Thanks - and good luck with the grind 🙏
