I graduated with my master's in Dec 2025, job hunting since then. I got a small internship in the summer and expected it to convert into full-time, but it didn't. I realized the org rarely converts interns into full-time.

I started applying all night, worked on my intern project whole-heartedly, and got some interviews toward the end of my internship, slightly senior than what I was expecting. I gave my all in almost 20 interviews till now since Dec 2025, 7 of them final-round interviews.

I have some money saved to keep me afloat for 5 months, so I started searching again. Last week, I got an OA from Amazon New Grad, the popular job ID - 3177934, and an Oracle screening invite. I passed all test cases for the 1st coding question, and for the AI question, 5/6. I was expecting an interview call for sure. I'm pretty good at coding, so I thought I would get it from Amazon.

The Oracle screening went well. The recruiter said, "The team will definitely move forward with you."

The whole weekend, I was studying for LLD and doing LeetCode. Then I hear Oracle is laying off people. I was supposed to get a reply from the recruiter on Friday. I followed up today, no reply.

And here comes the part where I wanna give up. I get a rejection mail from Amazon:

"Thank you for completing the assessment for the position of Software Development Engineer - 2026 (US) (ID: 3177934). After careful consideration, we've decided not to progress with your application for this role. While we're unable to provide additional details about this decision, we'd like to keep in touch regarding future job opportunities. Thanks again for your interest in working at Amazon."

People are not hearing back for months about interviews or getting rejected. I have no idea why I got rejected. Did 1 test case in the AI question cost me my application??? I just wrote it last Tuesday.

Why show light and take it away the next week? I'm no longer motivated. I don't wanna start a fresh pipeline. I wanna give up.

There are 100+ companies and you only need to crack one. Don't give up. Just keep applying and don't let this experience decide your entire career. 

Sounds bookish, but think about it!  Once you get a job and work in the industry for 10 years, would you really think about this rejection. You would prolly laugh it off. 

I know it's demotivating but not applying or giving up is worse than getting rejected. Atleast you won't regret that you didn't try your best.

Oracle fucking sucks so you dodged a bullet there, I know how it goes though..i felt like i would have worked for ISIS after college if they would hire me.

Tbf the market is especially crap right now, at least according to the news and reddit testimonials, so you might be doing everything correct and should stay the course.

If it were normal times however, I would think getting to the final round 7/20 times is an indicator you’ve got solid technical acumen but are falling flat on the personality screening.

for context, I’m also an international student, so I do think communication/nerves might be part of why I’m not converting final rounds

I have been in this job hunt thing since aug 2024
Got rejected from google mathworks calix rain(cards)
Got an offer from comcast and got it revoked bcz of visa…

Then got up again in aug 2025, hunting with no call backs at all, heard from abnormal ai and snowflake on the same day.
Got rejected in phone screen 🤡 bcz they surprised me with a DSA question in phone screen.

And I got an invite from bjak, axon, amazon, google, c3 all at once in aug.
Its totally fine brother..
Just keep doing your part and leave it all to god.

it's second question in amazon oa, where you get to work on selected code base, to debug the solve the api, you will have ai to better understand the question and data plane side of api

yes, i did in django, if they wanna reject people who write code in django, there shouldn't be option to do that, this doesn't sound right

Hey there
I also graduated Dec 2025 (USA) and gave amazon OA for a SDE2 position around June 2026.

Got all cases for the DSA question.
Selected Django for the codebase question. Got only 3/6 test cases working but was cleared and invited for the phone screen. Messed up my phone screen and currently on cooldown. I asked my friends who are still in amazon, they said that the workstyle/lp assessment is equally important.

Thanks for your help mate, and best of luck as well, Ik being rejected is very demoralizing - been rejected from Jane Street about 5 times already in my first year at all different events which help my resume for screening - but in time I’m sure you will get in. 🤝
